You also miss out on the original final boss of Sonic 3 if I remember right.

Oh yeah, I forgot he doesn't go to his second form. It was kind of uninspired anyway.

It's a good thing I already have no respect for your views of music, or we'd have to stop being friends now.
I wouldn't be surprised if you fall asleep listening to Jimmy Buffet while playing air marimbas.

Poop on you for not loving Beethoven and Bach, but do enjoy your Dixie Chicks compilations.

I kid.

Unless you do like the Chicks of Dixie. Than you are the one with poopy music taste.

Something interesting to think about... does Sonic CD only have ONE true loop de loop? And does it even count? The one in Palmtree Panic that goes a little 3D on you and sends Sonic flying. Beyond that, I'm having a hard time picturing more loop de loops in this one. They're all over Sonic 2, 3, and S&K.

The level design in CD is just straight up very different, so yeah. I love it though. My only knock on CD is the final boss really. It's -painfully- pathetic. And I mean, not even another form or anything? I have no idea what they were thinking or how that flew, seriously is like the easiest boss in the entire game (and the rest are a joke too). The designs were always cool, like the first boss, but yeah they were such a joke. Can't be too perfect I guess.

I'd venture that I listen to a wider range of classical music more often than you. Remember, that's pretty much all NPR plays between Morning Edition and Terry Gross.

I remember waiting for a second form or something and then... nothing. I went back and got the "Time Stones" and... nothing. The game just comes to such an abrupt end.

If I made a list of lamest final boss fights of all time, that one would be up there.

I wouldn't argue against that haha.

Still manages to be one of my all time favorites though. But yeah, so weird. Considering there's usually multiple steps/battles to the Robotnik fights in all the other games, that was really weird.

Also screw "Eggman", ugh I hate that so much!

I think I'm going to work my way backwards with my Sonic marathon coming up. So I'll go to 3 next, then 2, 1, and CD at the end to save the best for last.

I though at first when I heard that, "THAT must have been the Michael Jackson involvement with this game!" I know the story of how the music came to be/not to be in the end. Pretty good read.
CFFJR wrote:I do have to argue with this though Exed, if I may. :) Though this isn't really directed at you so much as more of my reactions to the idea that S3&K slows things down too much.

(well said points follow)
Nah, it's all good. I forgot about the slower spots in 1 like Marble Zone and you're not exactly going all that fast in a few spots on CD either. (yeah, don't get me started on Workbench and Act 2 of Metallic Madness)
Luke wrote:This game is such a cash grab and so lazy that I doubt I'll ever get into it. I will play Sonic, Sonic 2, and Sonic CD every year, but after CD I don't find the games to be captivating or have that imagination and creativity that reeled me in. Call it a gimmick, call it originality, it's in your perception.
He's got it!

But thanks for hearing me out guys. I came not to knock on this game at all, I was happy to see it if only to try it out. I understand the proud lineage the Genesis titles have had as well as all the acclaim and praise they've earned through out the years. I did get the Mega Collection for a reason, and it's not just for 1 & 2 either. I wanted to give 3 and S&K a chance. I'm not out for the rest of this month, but I'll get back to it again. As an aside, it sucks the unlockables take a while to get (I know I can just exit and start each game 30 times, but really?)

This boss doesn't disappear entirely though, just shifted over. Sonic and Tails no longer fight him, but Knuckles does.

Had I not already played this game a billion times years ago, I'd be all over this Together Retro. S&K is one of my all time favorite games and in my view, the best 2d Sonic game ever made, at least on consoles anyway.

Now, what I really love about this thread is that it gives me another excuse to post these:
