I might buy it just because it's available on PC.

I will get the PC version after it is bundled with DLC for cheap. I have always played and enjoyed the series on PS (though I have dabbled with it on PC) so sticking with what I know I prefer.

I just wanted to continue the hype train for No Man's Sky by showing off this great behind-the-scenes interview that shows the game in action, as well as a lot of the dev tools used to create the worlds and creatures dynamically. Absolutely fascinating!

For a man who has created an entire universe populated with life, he is surprisingly humble.

This game is a landmark for procedural generation, and the exploration will likely be incredibly satisfying. I remain skeptical about the gameplay though. They have created an infinite playground, I'm just not sure if they have given people fun games to play in that playground, or if people are going to have to make up their own fun.

It is a very open-ended game, but there is a bit of a goal, which is to reach the center of the universe. There are ways to do so and secrets to unlock in a very obfuscated plot. Part of what makes it great is the fun you make for yourself. I mean, how cool would it be to find a planet, land on it and start chronicling all the wild-life, being chased by wild predators. Supposedly in this 70 Questions and answers about No Man's Sky share some tidbits of knowledge about what will be in the game, even though the majority of the questions are garbage.

In reality though, the game has a little something for everyone, dog-fighting, rare ore collecting and trading, world exploration and wild life finding as well as interplanetary domination!

no, I get the reasoning. Oddly, Dragon Age Origins felt better to me w/ keyboard & mouse than the controller settings did. Shrug. I should really fire that back up.

I don't believe I could possibly be more excited for Splatoon, the new Star Fox, and Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Don't get me wrong, I am super excited for No Man's Sky. I just see how easy it is to become too excited. The game looks like every 9 year-olds dream game: infinite worlds and creatures, total freedom, go anywhere, do anything. I have to remind myself to have some skepticism about the hype around this game because it is very easy to develop overblown expectations for it. Right now, I'm trying to imagine that it will be a lot like Outerra: an amazing spectacle of procedural world building, but ultimately just a pretty thing to look at and explore with limited game play options. I certainly hope No Man's Sky is more than that, and I think there is some lovely logic to having the game get more difficult (and your ships more powerful) towards the universe's core, but if I get too excited I'll just let down my inner 9 year old who wants to believe anything is possible.

Oh I completely understand. I myself struggle to keep my imagination from blowing it far out of proportion. Looking at some of the examples they showed on how a single creature can change dramatically, gives me high hopes for how the creatures will be. I hope that it is easy to play with a friend, as I would like to at least have one person with me on the journey of space exploration. For me it is all about the exploration. I will spend a lot of time on planets looking at wildlife and surviving. People may rush to the core and more power to them, but for me, I think my fun will be from seeing all the different lifeforms.
