I feel like this would only work for me if it was fully animated with a more lighthearted style, but that's just my opinion. This quote "and that the project is being compared to Game of Thrones." kind of worries me.
I can't help but think of 'Super Mario Bros' from a movie perspective and then remembering how it went last time they fleshed out a silent protagonist (Metroid other M).
Set it in the universe but not using hallmark characters and you got a shot at it working. Family Game of Thrones has happened as Lego Chima and it is all sorts of disjointed. I am fairly sure they meant it as a fantasy series with political overtones
But has this been confirmed by Nintendo? Last I saw Nintendo said they do not comment on rumors.
Netflix is reportedly out to writers for a live-action Legend of Zelda TV series. Nintendo is on board and working closely with Netflix but can ultimately scrap the idea if it doesn’t fit in with their vision of the series. Apparently, the streaming provider sees this as kind of a more family-oriented version of Game of Thrones. Read more about the potential Legend of Zelda TV series below.
I also like the Clone Wars example and think that could work as well. It would be neat to see longer individual episodes in a sort of 'mini-series' that each time delved into another incarnation of the story much like the games do.
I wouldn't be surprised if this all turned out to be bullshit. And if it isn't, I wouldn't be surprised if nothing ever came of it. Nintendo being the way they are and all.
