I was sad to see Tyreese go. So soon after Beth too, which was too soon after Hershel. I'm glad they continue to be willing to take risks and try to stay fresh, but I wish they wouldn't kill off all my favorite characters so quickly. I'm still invested in a few of them, and I'll keep watching for sure. I liked Tyreese a lot, so I was happy to see him get a full episode send off.

It's probably a hard balance to strike with the subject matter trying to appease the gore hounds, the drama crowd, and find some of the symbolism that is normally expected with any Zombie movie/show that is worth watching. They are doing an admirable job. It's far from my favorite series, but I always tune in.

Bleh. Not impressed with the episode at all. A lot of reaching to tie past events to where Tyreese wound up. More or less an hour spent on the death of an under-developed character.

I like Bear McCreary's score. Tyreese is going to be missed. :(

Tyrese is another character who was better in the comic than in the show, so it wasnt so bad to see him go.

I think the timing was also kind of poor. All that build up and finish with Beth and then and oh yeah here is a goodbye Tyrese episode.

That's what I like about the what the show has become. It's a box of chocolates.

I'd much rather have offbeat episodes than say the "on the farm for nearly a season" stuff.

I dont like the over lingering stuff either, but this just felt out of place. I typically like these type of shows as they don't feel like a tv show, but like a really long movie or story just cut into pieces. This felt like a tv show episode, and somewhat disjointed, if that makes sense.

That makes complete sense.

Sometimes education backfires, and I'll shortly explain my viewpoint.

Reviewing movies for years has definitely brought upon tunnel vision. "Did you like it?" is more likely than not replaced with "Was it well made?", and "Did it accomplish the goal that was set?".

It's extremely difficult for me to not judge a show or movie by the performances, sets, plot devices...all the nuances*. And I tend to judge on a show to show basis, and not by the series, so for me it is "Did they achieve a good -insert theme here?".

I thought they made a compelling and fantastic tribute show to a character who had development, but sadly we never got to know enough. It also was great at asking the viewer "when do you give up?".

*Except for most Pixar movies. Usually my brain shuts off, I'm either smiling like a child or sobbing with heart ache. Have no clue how they get me so emotionally involved with cartoons, but I cried more during UP! than at my own Grandfathers funeral.

How did Noah and his group going out for supplies end up 500 miles south in Atlanta?

I liked this mid-season premiere - it vaguely set the ton for the rest of the season "We'll continue on to DC" and really paid off all of the Tyrese stuff that has been building since the trip to Terminus. I can even excuse Tyrese being caught off guard by the boy zombie since he was in the zone looking at the pictures (my biggest pet peeve with the show is how these things just sneak up on people).

Artistically, it was one of the better episodes as well.
