Historically the chain has had a lot of "isolated incidents".

And, regardless of the type/number of those incidents, the statements made by their owners over the years and the money from customers they've used to fund hate groups should be enough to make anyone who gives a shit about treating LGBT folks like human beings enough reason to go elsewhere to find some shitty chicken sandwiches to eat.

I told them she was the same level of gay as when we ordered and that we would leave when we were good and ready. Needless to say we don't frequent their establishments any longer.

Chick-fil-A has a history of funding groups that "cure" homosexuality through spirituality through their affiliated non-profit. They have claimed that they have no problem with gay people buying their food, but apparently that was a lie. In fact, even looking gay is enough.

You are probably right, but given the corporation's priorities on this issue, I can't help but assume it might be a little less isolated at Chik-fil-A than at other restaurants. Corporate stances on social issues influence hiring practices, which in turn will influence the operation of individual restaurants.

As the resident psychologist, let me just be clear that those are BIG quotations around the word "cure." It's called reparative therapy and the American Psychological Association is highly against it, it doesn't work, it makes people worse, "homosexuality" hasn't been considered a mental disorder in a long time, and we don't even use the word "homosexual" anymore as it has been replaced by LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning).

You all probably didn't need that lesson, but I felt like I wanted to say it because this "reparative therapy/conversion therapy" crap offends me both scientifically (it doesn't work) and morally (it shouldn't be done even if it did work).

Even if I didn't give a shit (and I do), the bigger problem is that I would be setting an example for my children. If we want to make changes in society and the way people are treated then we have to make some sacrifices to illustrate to the upcoming generation that we support those changes. Sacrifices in this case, are shitty chicken sandwiches.

Would you purchase your BBQ from a KKK owned chain? I mean, if it was "decent"? Assuming they did their lynching on an isolated, case by case basis.

I can understand that if you were personally wronged by an experience at a location you wouldnt want to go back. But it is also a stretch to start comparing Chick Fila to the KKK.

Isolated incident means that an employee took it upon themselves to be rude. I dont think that is corporate direction. Trying to paint Chick Fila as a hate group is going into the realm of ridiculous.

Or the realm of truth. Do they hate LBGT or not? It would not surprise me if it is preached to employees. Extreme, sure. But, hate is hate my friend. Look into them a bit more, I did after the incident.

Edit: I don't boycott every business that has personally wronged me either. I won't fund a group that would possibly use my money to fund one of their friends "God hates fags" picket rallies.

But they have historically supported groups that are classified as such by watch dog organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center (here was the SPLC's explanation of linking the group in question). So, to follow the analogy, maybe you aren't giving your money directly to the KKK...but you are giving money to the group that then give it to the KKK.
