Seriously, I'm working on the gba version and when I get done with this months stuff done(and once I accumlate a decent amount of titles for respective systems. Esepecially with portable stuff I'm scared I'm going to end up losing something unless I case it up somehow...

Same...golden sun, minish cap, you name it in my library and I've done that(and it's gotta stop another reason those games plus my older backlog items are before ff1 because ff1 isn't a made it more than halfway or even to final dungeon type deal). Though it seems like no matter where and how I did grind in some of those...yeah it wasn't enough apparently...

So I think I have finally figured out five resolutions that should give me some direction in my gaming this year.

1)Playing: I plan to do the alphabetical challenge....but not all at once. I want to do A-Z from 1979 (the year I was born) to 2004 (the last year before 7th Gen) over the course of the year.

2)Playing: I want to make a concerted effort to beat more games on Nintendo platforms. When I look back at my "Games Beaten" lists only a tad over 10% of all games in the past 5 years have been on a Nintendo platform, and more than half of those were on a handheld. I need some more quality Nintendo console time, and would like to finish at least 20 games on a Nintendo platform this year.

3)Organizing: I want to figure out some storage solutions for my games that clears out the clutter of my media room. I don't think I want to part with many of the games I have (though I have considered this) but having them all easily accessible at all times is just taking up a lot of room. I think I will merge this goal with creating a spreadsheet of what games I have for each platform that also includes, perhaps, a location where they are stored.

4)Collecting: I'd like to start looking for boxes for the systems that I own that are missing them. Especially given #3, I think it would be a good idea to store boxed systems with their games.

5)Writing: I'd like to have four articles about video games published - with at least one of them going to an academic outlet. I have one of these in the pipeline (and am not counting my book), so this leaves me with three more to get cracking on...

Those all seem very doable and realistic...I think.

Good idea.

I think a Game Room overhaul is in order for me too.

I'd like to eventually replace the crap Target/Best Buy "media shelves" I have with solid wall-mounted ones that I assemble. Something I hope to get to this summer.

I really want to try and commit to playing through at least some of the stuff I already have. I could probably go a few years and not even make a real dent...

I play a lot of newer games too, some of them I just received for Xmas and my Bday. So I will be buying the maps and the season passes for for a couple new games I already have, but nothing else. I should be able to fund this by selling off or trading in a few games. The goal is $0 spent.

After this hiatus, I plan on staying at least a year behind on new game releases, possibly more.

An update 1 month into the year...

I managed to make it through January without buying any games or accessories, though I did renew XBOX live for $40 like I had planned.

I haven't jumped into completing any games as I have just been really busy recently, but I did get back into Day of Defeat: Source again. I used to play this a lot up until a few years ago and it's just such a fun game. I think I will play a few rounds now before I have to get ready for work.

After I beat a few games this that is definitely one of the things I really want to do this year. But in release year order(ports will count for the original order they were released in so lttp even though on gba is still after Zelda II). Oddly I think I own every major nintendo platform zelda minus minish cap, windwaker, and link's awakening?

Rescue on Fractalus came in the mail today, and I picked up Gremlins earlier this month. Accordingly, I am only one game away from owning every first-party Atari 5200 game. I may just jump on eBay tomorrow and knock this one out early.

1. Since the Astro has now killed two arcade monitors, two power supplies, and two tvs, it is getting the LCD permanently installed. Interfaces and a vesa mount were ordered yesterday and measurements were taken for the backboard. Itll be a quick build once the parts get here.

4. When moving it yesterday, since I have a propane team on site today to fix a pipe, one of the monitor mounts broke. Ofcourse, it smashed one of the interfaces and the pc that was in it. So I am rewiring the whole thing, mounting a different pc, and mounting a new monitor on a steel plate. As much as I love CRTs, LCDs dont hurt as much.

Tunnel Runner arrived in the mail yesterday, and I have completed my collection of CBS games for the Atari 2600. I am also very close to finishing up a few other sub-sets; so, I think I will be able to accomplish this one before the end of the year.

prfsnl_gmr wrote:Collect all first-party Atari 5200 games. (In only need three games - Ballblazer, Gremlins, and Rescue on Fractalus - to complete this set.)

Ballblazer also arrived in the mail yesterday; so, I now have a complete set of first-party Atari 5200 games.

prfsnl_gmr wrote:Finish off either my Wii or Xbox collections. (I only need 31 33 games to finish off my Wii collection, and I only need 29 28 games to finish off my Xbox collection.)

I have been adding to and subtracting to my "want" lists for each system, but I do not anticipate any more additions to the Xbox list. Accordingly - and with a bit of effort - I should be able to push that collection to completion in the coming months. (The Wii will probably have to wait until next year.)
