This got me thinking that while I have played/tried plenty of anime licensed games, I don't know how many I would bother with if I wasn't a fan of the franchise.
So I made this thread to discuss anime games that you think are good enough games for non-fans to enjoy too.
Lots of anime brawlers could be in this list, if it wasn't for the fact that well.....when you compare them to the kings of the genre like Street Fighter....they're not really good games. They mostly focus on the fan-service and not creating a complex or balanced game. Specially the balance thing gets thrown out of the window with 90% of the games I've tried.
That being said, one unbalanced but fun game I tried was Digimon Battle Arena on the PS1:

A Smash Bros clone, but this came out when its only competition was the original smash bros game, and not even on the same platform, so I really enjoyed playing this on my friend's playstation....but I do remember taking the metal wolf and owning my friend due to the character's screen filling straight line laser attack
And one entry that springs to mind, but I'm kind of biased in favor of is One Piece Unlimited World Red on the PS3, 3DS, Wii U and PS Vita

ok I will be honest, if you don't follow the anime you will be totally lost on the plot, but I find the light RPG-brawler combination to be really fun. All 9 characters play distinctively, the graphics are bright and colorful, and the game has a good length, with lots of extra content for completitonists /fans of hte series.
oh and a fun local co-op multiplayer mode, that's designed for handhelds so it is kind of stupid on the PS3
This is what split-screen looks like on the PS3:
I haven't tried teh Wii U version, but I hope one player can play on the gamepad and the other use the TV. on the handhelds you can play up to 4-player co-op, but I have no idea how that can be fun challenge wise, cause even with just 2 players, it's almost impossible to lose
EDIT
I now noticed that that screenshot is from the Wii U version, and still stupid split-screen :/
