Good call on Excitetrucks!

Not so much on Other M

I debated the Kirby/Mario/ Data East/etc. collections, but I think I prefer those games on their original hardware or MAME in most instances

Personally, I don't feel they hold up now, but especially not 10 years from now. At that point, we'll have whatever Zelda Wii U turned out to be, and whatever happens in the franchise on the next piece of Nintendo hardware. I think these two games will be looked back on with some fondness, but will ultimately be footnotes in the franchise history rather than stand-out must have in your library kind of games.

I like this list process, because it really makes you think about what will/won't hold up. I think that there are certainly 25 other titles more deserving of spots on the list ... but who knows? 8)

There's a part 2?
Well it is a weird "Part 2" as it is the same as "Part 1" but with two more games: Radirgy Noa and Illvelo.

^ Gotcha. It seemed odd you'd include one but not the other.

In terms of Zelda, I agree that TP/SS are some of the weaker entries when you take the entire series library into consideration. But as far as Wii games go I'd rank them pretty high.

Just remembered that Twilight Princess is also on GameCube. Haven't played that version so I'm not sure how they compare.

Whelp, this thread has made me officially pull my "primary" Wii out of storage. The kid plays a lot of Wii U downstairs and I rarely put Wii stuff on that TV, the wife uses a Wii in the bedroom for Netflix and DVDs...but I think it is time to hook one up for Gamecube/Wii gaming to one of the gaming-dedicated SDTVs.

I'm not the biggest SKyward Sword fan but I think it will hold up. Twilight Princess is a good game but is very generic Zelda and works better on Gamecube TBH. Skyward Sword however has some interesting design elements and is one of the few proper uses of the motionplus peripheral. It's divisive sure but at least it tried to do something with the Wii that couldn't have been done on other consoles.

My two nominations are Ghost Squad and Donkey Kong Country Returns. I know there's a 3DS port of the latter but I'd rather play a game like that on a big screen, waggle and all.

Dang a too early thread and now this...I think I'll be looking at this one more often, I think I really really zoned out around the end of gba and I know nothing aobut what's good besides mario, dk, zelda, and a few others give or take. Odd thing is I'd put skyward or twilight on here only because I own both and really enjoy both. I just suck at doing the sword just right in skyward(I own the bundle with the remote but lost the back to the remote  ). Heck galaxy is up there too for mario. Though I need to look at my wii library again...I haven't looked at or touched it a lot lately and that kinda bugs me(though i have been putting off touching it just so I don't forget the games I'm already working on...)

I'm wavering on whether or not DKCR would be in my Wii library. It's a good game, but the waggle actually interferes with the precision at times, and the 3DS port made some very small changes that made it a much more accessible/playable game. (My personal preference over all gives it to the 3DS version.) HOWEVER, that being said, I also own Tropical Freeze on the Wii U, and much like Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, DKC:TF improves upon DKCR so much that my future library would give it up to DKC:TF instead.

I feel the same about New Super Mario Bros. Wii and New Super Mario Bros. U I think. While NSMBW is a great game, NSMB2 (3DS) and NSMBWU both improve upon it so much that I'm not finding myself going back to NSMBW.

I'm not sure everyone here owns a Wii U, so they wouldn't be able to make the comparisons, or perhaps don't feel the same way. :)

Now if WiiWare titles can factor in, I'd put Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth, Contra: ReBirth, Excitebike: World Rally, Gradius: ReBirth, LostWinds & Tetris Party up for consideration, as the only WiiWare titles to earn a permanent place on my Wii Menu. There are other excellent WiiWare games, but I've enjoyed them more on other platforms. Maybe WiiWare needs to be an additional list. ;)

I'd say Twilight Princess does not belong. Not because it isn't deserving (I love it, don't care what people say) but because I consider it more of a gamecube game.

Having played both, I think the gamecube version is superior. It really comes down to the controls. The cube version is natural and responsive. The wii version...works.

I haven't played Skyward Sword and thus can't comment on its place here, but I really believe TP belongs on a Gamecube list.

I would second DKCR as well. I have it and the sequel, and I love them both equally. Tropical Freeze did indeed improve everything, but Returns has quite a few levels in it that still make it worth revisiting. The factory levels alone are unforgettable.

I'd also like to nominate Sonic Colors. I think its one of the best games in the franchise as a whole. It represented a return to form after years of average (and worse) entries in the series. Its fast, fun, colorful and pretty, and has some excellent music. It is also a unique experience that can only be had on the wii, and to me it feels very characteristic of the system, like it fits the vibe, if that makes sense. I can't imagine not having this game on my shelf.

Well DKCR definitely deserves a place in mine even if it is 2d with 3d graphics(I'm too stuck on the fact we'll never get a true sequel that would improve upon dk64). But if we're going to include those titles then jet rocket would go up on mine. It's a really really nice 3d platformer(which I'm a sucker for) and for what I recall paying for it, and what I've played of it, that one is worth every penny. I'll have to try and transfer it over to my u so I don't get in trouble for trying to hog the wii(even if it's the one that's backwards compatible with gamecube, and so what if I own a gcn too...)

On the subject of TP I really want to track down a copy of the gcn version too. It seems really nice and I want to attempt it over my wii version because I really want to play it with the gamecube controller for some odd reason....
