Sean S. Cunningham, the creator of Friday The 13th, has announced via EGM that a new video game based on the series is in development, aiming for an October 2015 release on “multiple platforms.”

According to the reveal, the game, which appears to be tentatively title Friday The 13th The Video Game, has been envisioned as a “multiplayer predator/prey horror experience,” with a group of players taking on the role of (what we can safely assume will be) archetypal teenagers trying to survive against a player who, as Jason, is hunting them. This “one vs. many” style of multiplayer is a de rigueur design, with the upcoming Evolve, Fable Legends, and BioWare’s Shadow Realms running on a similar conceit
There is gonna be games coming out of the woodworks this year (literally)! This could be awesome can't wait to hear more. I actually would like more of a single player experience, switch between the teens, different out comes depending on choices. Jason appears randomly like NES days minus being impossible. Lol

I already am adding at least 5 more games I didn't know I wanted, I'm interested in the Division now hearing its an RPG?!

Kings Quest, Until Dawn, Grim Fandango (ps4), DOA 5 Last Round.. To add a few more
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

I'm really wondering how No Man's Sky is going to be as a game. It looks amazing as an exploration title, I'm sure I'll take lots of screenshots, but other than that, I don't see it having a lot of things for you to do. The "everything procedural" mantra fascinates me, but with so much of the game being created by procedural techniques, I'm wondering how they can work in goals and a storyline. I can't imagine the level design being very good. I would love to be proven wrong about all this though.

I would love to get excited about things like The Witcher 3 or Metal Gear Solid 5, but honestly I'm pretty sure I will need to upgrade my PC before I can even run those, and I'm not really looking forward to having to do that.

I think I am currently most anticipating Hotline Miami 2.

I preordered Mortal Kombat X today and put in for a few days off from work for the release. I did the same for MK9. No regrets!

I so very rarely preorder things these days so this is quite the splurge on my part. I think Xenoblade and Child of Light are the only other games I have preordered in recent years.

the best thing about 90s nostalgia is that I don't even have to do anything to fit in.

What are these feelings? Is it time? The banner is raised. The trophy is made. The stars have aligned. Ladies and Gentlemen, I think we have a winner.

In all seriousness, this looks absolutely spectacular to me. I played the creator's Interactive Fiction in the mid 2000's and found it to be a spectacular act of simplistic storytelling that came with a lot of amazing implications. I feel like this is no different. It definitely is up my alley! Thank you for the find!

Adam DeCamp (Rutskarn), commentator and contributor to Twenty Sided's Spoiler Warning and Die Cast videos and podcasts, and lead writer of the indie game Unrest, has stated on Die Cast a couple times now that he really wants to make a modern FMV game. He already has folks in mind for the cast and knows some camera and editing folks who would help him out. He's just trying to figure out how to make it work (financially and otherwise) in a way he can do it. Maybe it will be his White Whale, but I think he would be likely to produce something awesome.

But here's the catch. He wants to make it retro. He wants it to be grainy, low-res video, much like on the Sega CD or in arcades at the time (think Area 51). He wants to make a classic FMV game, but one with awesome writing.

I say bah to the grainy compressed video. I have games like, "Who Shot Johnny Rock," on PC and on Sega CD and I have to say that the compression really kills it. That may be nostalgia talking for him, but trust me it is better to just do FMV with the modern technology. I will definitely keep an eye out for the title though. I am constantly searching for FMV games and adding to my collection, so I would be more than happy to help fund one more.
