I kept her as a thief character to open locks for me. Pretty useless skill though, I should have changed her class too.
yeah. anna as a theif is kinda meh.

theres not many you can marry her off to, if your main character is a male.

I did pick up Donnell and Olivia, so my party's a little bigger now. Donny's a total weakling right now though.

Also, I figured out a pretty awesome way to help Donny level-up. When I see an Archer, I surround him. I put someone to his left, right, and above him. Right on him, so he can't shoot at them since there isn't a space between them. Then I put Donny right below him. I let Donny hit him, gaining the experience and then make the other 3 just Wait for a turn. In the battle where I recruited Donny, I did this enough to get him to Level 2, which you needed to do in order to recruit him. He never took a hit.

I can't seem to drum up the energy to finish this game. I like the concept of Strategy/Tactics RPGs but every time I actually play one I just kind of fizzle out on it.

Maybe they aren't my thing.... :?

Donnel is easily the best character in the game after the initial levelling difficulties. If you have the patience to grind, you can't really go wrong with him.

I'd been stuck on Chapter 11 for a while. I just didn't have a strong enough party left. So I decided over the weekend to start over. Was able to breeze thru a lot of the early stuff of course. I'm up to Ch. 6 or 7 now and I've only lost a couple characters (that I really wasn't too worried about losing).

What's the learning curve like with FE:A? I haven't played a tactical strategy game in 15 years and have this one sealed on the shelf. Contemplating selling it (note: there is no market outside of what it goes for at retail). I'm kicking myself for missing a great GBA set of the first two games years back - can one start fresh with this or do you need some history into the series?

Thanks.

The game is mostly standalone; it technically is a few thousand years in the future of FE1/3, but all the story references are explained in game. Mechanically I'd say it's the most approachable of the FE games and you should be fine unless you choose one of the high difficulty options at the start.
