Why yes.

That's... exactly what I want.

Alright Mr. I'm-Looking-At-Super-Early-Game-Footage-Clipped-Together-And-I-Can't-Help-But-Be-Filled-With-Snarky-Commentary.

I am not saying it is the most amazing thing ever shown, but I at least can understand that we haven't seen even a fraction of the features or the world itself.

That is like saying, "Oh man! That Uncharted 4 is just climbing! What a boring ass game!"

I'm not being snarky, they made the joke themselves in the video. If that's the design philosophy at this point in the game's development schedule, we're in for another crappy Zelda game that falls flat as a Zelda game and below par for a game without the name.

I want a *GAME* to play, not a horse simulator with pretty scenery.

I do apologize for my misunderstanding, but did they show you a full fledged game? Was this some 500 episodes of a Let's Play? It was about 5 minutes of them showing you how gameplay on Epona is, since that is gameplay that has been lacking in previous iterations?

I am not saying it will be the be-all-end-all Zelda game, nor do I think it will be the worst ever. I haven't played it, nor have I seen enough of it to make a judgement. I just don't get the ill-will here.

No, they did not show a full-fledged game, but that's exactly part of the problem -- *THAT* was what they showed. Clearly they were cherry-picking areas that *looked* the best, talking about how there were many points you could climb up just to look at the beautiful scenery. They showed a cool feature where you can set your own waypoint via the gamepad, which is a necessity because of the sheer scope of the world. They joke that walking from one end to the other would take an unmeasurable amount of time. Which leads them to the horse, and one of the main irritations with what's happened to Zelda games since the influence of Ocarina of Time, which is that the core of the game is built around your transportation method (horse, boat, train, wolf, bird), which necessitates long, drawn out "voyages" to traverse between different points in the game with filler scenery. This hasn't changed since OoT, and is the 3D series most frustrating crutch.

Grand Theft Auto III did this *THIRTEEN YEARS* ago. In order to effectively traverse the map, you needed transportation...and everything that zoomed past your periphery while going from waypoint to waypoint was just there to fill the space and maintain the illusion. In Zelda's case, it actually feels more lifeless because the method of transportation is that much slower, and like recent iterations, enemies are few and far between. The most recent entries (Twilight, Skyward) are decent indicators of what's to come based on what they've shown already. All they need to show is a video of the horse talking because it's really character X, and then we're on a roll.

The 3D portion of the Zelda series is hopelessly stuck, and a bigger/prettier world doesn't change anything. Twilight/Skyward got progressively more linear and less open, which is some ways is a good thing, in others, terrible -- especially the corridor style travel afforded to Twilight. I'd rather a smaller world filled with life, than one that takes 5-10 minutes to travel between sparsely populated waypoints. If I wanted that, I'd just play Borderlands.

Maybe it sounds overly negative, but it's just an opinion, and it's subject to change as more footage appears.

It looks pretty decent for a 3D Zelda game. Like, I actually felt like "Oh wow, I wanna play this."

Then I remembered that I never enjoy 3D Zelda games so it'd just be a waste of money for me. Hope they do another 2D Zelda for consoles.

I hate mustard. Never had mustard, but I just know it sucks. I mean, ketchup has been a condiment for far longer than mustard. I think ketchup should replace mustard, because it is clearly better.

Who is with me? Fuck mustard! :P
