The combat is better than the Batman games because of the abilities and upgrades unique to this game(just don't get that awful vault stun upgrade it's more of a downgrade than an upgrade). It's like the Arkham style combat with cool new abilities layered on top of it, some of which would be a welcome addition to the next Arkham game. The variety of bad ass animations Talion has in combat is awesome too. Nothing like rolling over the back of an enemy getting ready to get back up and slicing his head off before your feet touch the ground again.
The Nemesis system may go even deeper than just captains and war chiefs. I snuck by a group of nobody, generic orcs and overheard one say, "The Gravewalker tried to burn me, but I was too fast for him!" After which I promptly slaughtered them, making sure to toss one of them in the campfire
The characters are cool (Ratbag is hilarious and Talion makes for a likable hero)
The way the reactive AI, environmental hazards, wild beasts, Batman style combat, archery ability, wraith abilities, enemy strengths, weaknesses and fears, along with the Assassins Creed style stealth merge together make for a game where any number of interesting things can happen any time you encounter enemies. There's some great Mark of the Ninja like terrorize abilities in the game too like "brutal" stealth kills. Sometimes just brutally killing a strong captain or war chief is enough to make a group of enemies flee
3 warchiefs down, about 5 or 6 story missions done, and more captains killed than I can remember, and still not dead yet
I have no nemesis yet, though I have had one or two repeat encounters with enemies I killed before or forced to retreat from fighting me. On my Sauron's army screen two captains I've defeated are shown as heads on a pike surrounded by weapons. I wonder if those are enemies I've killed permanently.
