Need Help - Handheld vs Console Versions

Have you played the Genesis version? Genesis version with a 6 button controller is much better. But I have to ask what does the GBA version add or have superior than its SNES counterpart? As far as I can tell they only took away aspects and it ends up being a mildly watered down port. Basically I can't see anyone choosing the GBA port over the SNES and GEN version accept to play it on the go.

It was far more convenient for me and the time frame we had to play it in to be able to play it on my GBA or the GB Player. Having save files instead of passwords was also useful. Other than that, a console version might have been better.

There was also a DS collection of all Mega Drive Sonic games, which is really bad.

Now, the 3D version done by M2, now that is Sonic on the go at its finest. Actually, all the M2 3D ports that I've tried are just wonderful.

I have Sonic Classic Collection for DS and it's very good. Obviously it's slowed down a little, but it's classic Sonic on the go. I don't know what else someone expects out of it, but the consensus on that game is overall positive.

You're really picky, huh? I grew up with Sonic, too. I got the model 1 Genesis with Sonic 1 in 1991...I'm as old school Sonic as you can get. But you know what? Show me something better. That's the best portable Sonic there is. It's not perfect, but it's far from horrible.

Well I suppose one could use a gba flash cart, then throw a SMS emulator on it and do Sonic 1 and 2 for that, at least it would be full screen since it will compress it to fit the area. That sonic game on DS is not so good with the speed and view area on the DS, but with DSi it's a shadow release that uses the added cpu/ram to speed the game up to normal.

Tell ya what, show me these masses that hate Sonic Classic on DS. Cause Amazon has 4 1/2 stars, aggregate reviews are very good. Does your neighbor hate it? Does your chat buddy hate it? I don't care. I'm old school Sonic and I like it compared to my options. Deal with it
