This is outrageous. I can't recognize anyone in this forum anymore.

In general it's easier to just keep your name, especially if you have several hundred(or thousand) posts.

I accidentally misspelled my name. It is supposed to be BogusMeatFuckToy. Does that count?

Is it really that much work to change just a couple of users names once in a while? I've been turned down for a name change before as well. My excuse is exactly the one you guys dont want though... I was in a damn big hurry to PM someone about making a purchase back in the day and didn't think twice about choosing a generic name that makes me sound like a pimp or rapper.

I have a feeling the time it would take to change someones username is about the same amount of time it would take to respond turning them down.... If that is true, denying such requests for good users (read: more than a couple of hundred posts) should be something the mods reconsider.

Hey, hey, this is MY thread about my NEW (old?) name. If you want to whine about how you don't have an awesome name like I do, make your own thread about it.

But remember, even if you change your name I still did it before it was mainstream

It was decided a long time ago to not do name changes, however the mod staff at that time are either no longer on the site or stepped down as mods. The reason for it is because once you open that floodgate people want to change their names on a whim and it can become very difficult to navigate the forum. Its one thing to want to change your username to standardize it across multiple boards or because of a hacking attempt against you, it is another to decide that today I will be the Sephirothbishi88 and tomorrow the Whirling Octagon of Doom.

For the record, I did the name change from bluelazgun to Nathan Barnett. But he gave good reasons for it.

If anyone wants to be called Whirling Octagon of Doom, I challenge you to give him any good reason why he shouldn't.

I vote that people be able to change nicknames, but not avatars. That's how we tell them apart anyway

Mine should be "Last edited by jp1" because nearly all my posts end in that anyway. It only makes sense my username should be the same.
