The Children of Earth story was okay. But nothing makes up for Torchwood. That show was so hilariously over sexed. The must have been thinking "Hey we don't have any sex scenes in Dr Who. Lets put 50 times more sex scenes than necessary to advance the plot. Glad they weren't afraid to keep Captain Jack's pan-sexuality in America but I didn't really see how boning all the time helped anything.Gamerforlife wrote:Tennant was amazing, and the real highlight of the Doctor Who reboot, but Matt Smith is amazing in his own way and you could argue he's had the best companions since the reboot started in Roury and Amy(though I loved Donna)
The Girl Who Waited and The Doctor's Wife are two of the best episodes of Matt Smith's run. The Doctor's Wife was written by Neil Gaiman.
One of the best things about current generation Doctor Who is that it spun off Torchwood, which had one of the best seasons of Sci Fi television ever created in the "Children of Earth" story arc, and it probably paved the way for the excellent Sherlock, which was created by the same person currently running Doctor Who

i've watched quite a lot of tennant years(still a better doctor than smith imo), and seen a good chunk of the smith years too. Plus if you're watching Who you might as well go to hulu. They have pretty much everything availible now(classic and reboot stuff is seperate though). As well I've watched a few episodes of eccleson...but those autons creep the heck out of me, though not as much as the angels...ZeroAX wrote:How much have you watched from the new show? To be honest I haven't watched anything from classic who, and since I barely made it through the first 4 seasons of new who (it took me a year in which I had a LOT of free time, while it took me a month for seasons 5 and 6) I don't see myself ever getting down to watching any of the classic episodes. At least I enjoy reading wiki articles about them and plot synopsis videos on youtube.darsparx wrote: Not going to lie, what i have watched of that era of who, I kinda liked Rose. Though imo Donna, was a little better...

We don't have hulu here, but what we do have is a judicial system that doesn't punish people who pirate, only people who distribute them sodarsparx wrote: i've watched quite a lot of tennant years(still a better doctor than smith imo), and seen a good chunk of the smith years too. Though once I did order the 5th series of Doctor Who on blue ray, but it got lost in the mail :'(.
ok fair enough. I'm a huge Smith fan, and when they changed doctors I hated him, mostly cause I had gotten so used to tennant (I think the reason he's every new who's fan "my doctor" is because he was the first one who stayed for so long when the show came back), but he managed to win me over in his debut episode.
Have you seen the regenerations from 10th to 11th and 11th to 12th? They were very dramatic from 10 to 11, which I think made the audience dislike the change, while from 11 to 12 they pretty much told the audience "hey, change is good".

Well you probably also have access to the iplayer too. In america we'll never get that because I've heard several times people have said that if we did the major tv providers have threatened to drop BBCA if that were to happen(yet we've got almost all of Who and several other shows on hulu and netflix so

No we don't have that either. I think you only have it if you live in the UKdarsparx wrote:Well you probably also have access to the iplayer too. Re: Doctor Who Talk
Doctor Who seasons aren't on the Iplayer anyway. Best place for them is actually American Netflix.
Re: Doctor Who Talk
Not in america...hulu has all of it now. Netflix not so much they have a mix of classic and new but hulu has a much better selection from my experience. (heck hulu even has the specials that just aired a few months ago and almost all of the classic stuff that has been retrieved from space so far)Sload Soap wrote:Doctor Who seasons aren't on the Iplayer anyway. Re: Doctor Who Talk
Don't you guys pay for this show to get made? Don't you get to have it for free forever or something like that?Sload Soap wrote:Doctor Who seasons aren't on the Iplayer anyway. Best place for them is actually American Netflix.
I remember when the PS3 Doctor Who game came out people were wondering how the licensing agreement in the UK would work since apparently they aren't allowed to charge for stuff being produced by the BBC. Did I understand correctly?

Re: Doctor Who Talk
Well hulu and netflix are subscription but I'd rather buy it all(but I'm not paying for a collection of classic Who until they release it in a proper one instead of that stupid spread out thing that is one arc per set).

Re: Doctor Who Talk
loooooooooooool. I just found out that David Tennant was also Scottish. I did NOT know that, nor did he ever betray an accent.
So that makes 3/4 modern Doctor Scottish...wow, I'm guessing the BBC really wanted them to stay
