Been playing Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate for a while...

It's actually pretty good. Maybe I shouldn't have ignored the Pixeljunk series for all this time. Vaguely reminds me of this game:

On a less positive note, I also tried Velocity 2X and absolutely despise it

I'm playing Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, and I have a question.

When my unit gets incapacitated, how do I withdraw them?

In the PSP remake they're knocked out for 3 turns before they die.

This was posted over at gamfaqs. Might be more information in that topic didn't dig to deep.

Revive (for lack of a better word) them, before the timer above their heads expires, using a Blessing Stone. (not sure if alt method is available later on, someone can fill that in)
OR
End the battle before the timer expires.

If they completely disappear from battle, they lose a pink Heart. Heart = Life. Lose all 3, and they are dead forever.

Oh wait! Sorry it's been awhile. Assuming it's like the SNES/PSX version in this case, later on you do actually get a "revive" spell and that's when you can use it on characters. Now the tough part here is that I remember it takes quite awhile to get that spell, like 20 hours or it was chapter 3, something crazy like that. So until then... I think if you finish a battle while they're still "knocked out" they don't die so you won't lose them. But yeah.

Least that's how I remember the SNES version now.

You have to bring them back to life with a blessing stone, hallowed stone (requires item level 2) or the revive spell (appears really late, costs stupid amounts of MP to cast) or finish the map before the counter hits 0 (they won't die if they're still incapacitated when you win).

If you revive them and they die again, the counter starts at 3 again. There's an item you can use to withdraw a unit from a map (warp stone? something like that), but I doubt you can use it on a dead unit. I never used one, so I dunno for sure.

They actually have 3 lives, so if they do 'die' in a battle, they still have 2 lives remaining.

Quick warning though - outside of Vyce and Catiua early in the game, most 'guest' characters will instantly die, permanently if they run out of HP. Not even a 3 turn counter. Keeping some of the guests alive long enough for them to join you is often harder than anything else in the game.

Damn you Arycelle!

I'm a big fan of the Front Mission series, so it stands I'd be interested in Armored Core as well. Granted one is mostly a turn based series and the other real time action, but there's plenty of commonalities. Anyway, I've been meaning to try out an Armored Core game forever, so I finally have. Figured I'd just start at the very beginning of this immense series, and thus I'm playing the original Armored Core. I've got 4 hours in so far, and I'm enjoying it. Definitely enough customization to appease the mech geek inside me. There are some menu quibbles I have with the game though, like contrasting existing parts with shop parts isn't readily apparent. I do enjoy the email system in this game and the fact that every mission is unique from the last. Anyway I'll probably post some screenshots from this when I'm done, pretty fun game for its time (1997).
