I understand completely. Completing Luigi's Purple Coins in the first game is probably my greatest 3D platforming achievement. It took me hours, however, and I often felt like screaming at the end of some of my attempts.

I really need to go back to both games at some point and play through them again as Luigi. They are just so good.
Xeogred wrote:Crash' design is definitely a bit different and because of it, I'd actually say it's helped it age well. I think a comparison to Super Mario 3D World wouldn't be too far off. There are a lot of stages with fixed camera angles, behind or in front of you, and it's still got a great deal of some side scrolling stages too. It's very simplistic if you're into that, so it's mostly just getting through the levels.
Sounds good to me. I loved Super Mario 3D World, and I was pleasantly surprised by my experience with Jak & Daxter. Accordingly, Crash Bandicoot may be the next plaformer I play with my children (after DuckTales: Remastered, which shouldn't take too long).

You could do Luigi in the first? Not sure if I remember that. Yoshi wasn't in that one either right?

I always played as Luigi in Galaxy 2 when he popped up. His sliding when you stop running got kind of annoying though haha.

I think I ended up with 85 stars or something in Galaxy 2. I want to say I got more in the first, but it's been awhile.

I absolutely loved those purple coin stages in Galaxy 2 though heh, they were brutal but a lot of fun.

Just go and play Crash 3 right away. Crash 1 REALLY hasn't stood the test of time, and some versions of Crash 2 don't support the dual shock controller, and your fingers will hurt playing the game with the D-PAD. I also think that Crash 3 has by far the best level design (it sure has the largest variety) in the series, and no freaking jet pack levels :P

Yes. If you get all 120 stars, then talk to Rosalina, and then defeat Bowser a second time, you will unlock Luigi, and you can start a new game with him. Also, according to GameFAQs:

"To unlock the final star and galaxy, collect all 120 stars with Luigi and beat Bowser. Doing so unlocks the Grand Finale Galaxy, accessible from the green trial planet, which is the Star Festival seen in the beginning of the game. Collecting the 100 purple coins in this galaxy gets you the final star."

I have unlocked Luigi, but I have only collected a few stars with him. I will probably go back to the game at some point...but first I have to try out these Crash Bandicoot 3. (Thanks for the tips, ZeroAX!)

Not in all the levels, but I think you play around 1/5th of the game as her.

She's Crash's sister

and she has a much more appealing design than his girlfriend from the first game

You can also check Cart Team Racing while you're at it :)

A company called Performance 3 party controller that emulates the d-pad with the analog stick for the PS1. It is called the "dual impact". Man it makes all of those older d-pad only games so much better. It is a little on the large side so not for small hand but makes those old PS1 titles so much more playable.

I bet CRT knows about it..... :D

Analogue: A Hate Story PC
XCOM: Enemy Unknown PC
BioShock PC

BioShock: Infinite PC

Infinite takes away what was bad about the original BioShock and focuses on what the original excelled at: story. It's arguably one of the most artistically competent games ever made and the story gives most big budget films a run for their money in quality. The gameplay is still basic BioShock and it remains repetitive but the "Vigors" are generally fun to use and it does have a bit more enemy variety. I didn't believe it could be as good as the gaming community as a whole claimed when it first came out but I was a pleasantly surprised that it mostly lives up to those lofty expectations.

So yeah. Call me impressed. :)
