Ugh. I decided against getting a 360 because of the RROD and got a PS3. Now Sony might be axing the playstation brand next month... no win situation.

woawoawoa where did you hear this rumor, Sony is still making plenty of profits, not off the playstation brand, but off of games and other devices.

I gotta stop reading threads like this. Makes me paranoid. My 360 is still going, but I don't use it a whole lot. Maybe that's why. I finally started playing a couple games this year, but now it's mostly ignored in favor of my PSP and recently acquired DS. I guess it's to my benefit that only a small number of 360 titles have interested me since its release. Less wear and tear on the system

Yeah, I did get back into Virtua Fighter 5 pretty heavily for a bit, and then followed with Silent Hill 5...that's probably what killed it.

There are rumors that Sony is going to do a 10% layoff due to the recession and the Playstation not doing well.

well the layoff is understandable, the recession isnt getting any better but I doubt its because the Playstation isnt doing well, its doing decent as of late in fact.

It has been on most of the gaming blogs, and it was reported in a newspaper. Sony might be axing one of their major devisions next month and the playstation is losing the most money for Sony right now.

I think Sony need to realise that people simply can't afford the PS3. Sony are hemorrhaging money right now due to the simple fact that the PS3 is far too expensive for most people to buy. If the PS3 doesn't sell units then software sales (where they make all of their money, since the PS3 is still sold at a loss) take a hit as well.

Personally I hope that they do axe the Playstation despite having one myself. It will just show to Sony/Kaz that their arrogance got them nowhere.

On topic:

I've had my 360 for about 2 years now if not longer. I don't even remember when the launch of the 360 was. Whenever that was in this country that was when I got one. It's still soldiering along haven't had any problems so far apart from a DRE on a dirty disc that my friend put in it (shock horror!) thats it.

Sega hasn't known what it was doing since before Tom Kalinske left. I'd prefer not moving to a two company console race just yet(I was hoping Microsoft would drop out before Sony...), but we'll see what happens.
