Well, it finally happened...again...

Post by Ack »

So the 360 I Frankensteined has finally RRODed on me.

Thankfully llama.com has a tutorial and the required parts to fix it. Which is good, because since it's been opened and has a performance mod(I upgraded the fans...), I can't send it in to Microsoft. It's not foolproof, but if I can get it to work, I don't think it's supposed to RROD on me again. I'm gonna need to order the parts they offer and pick up a 1/4" nut driver though...

Here's the fix, if any of you guys have to do this on your own.

should've gotten a PS3... jk 360 is good, just the hardware failures caused me to loose patience and interest in it.

That sucks Ack, but with older 360s inevitable. So much for the fan mod keeping it cooler. Best of luck with repairs mine went this past summer and its a awful feeling.

I'm a four time survivor myself. It gets easier.

ugh- it shouldn't have to.

Just sent mine out for repair. I have a second one that i do tweaks on, but so far they have all been cosmetic. I got it broken for free and repaired it, so really nothing to lose, but i dread when it goes red ring.

Haha, oh my god, just give up already. By remaining a 360 user all you're doing is telling the world that this kind of production quality is satisfactory. Stop it.

*Knock on wood* My original Xbox $360 is still going strong.

I feel your pain though, each time I put a game in the system I wonder is this the game that's going to kill it.

Haven't they theoretically shored up the design? How often does the RROD happen with the newer hardware builds? Still a problem?

Mine was less than a year old when i got the red ring. I even went out of my way to get the 175W version rather than the 200W to try to minimize the heat and get the newest build. I used to think that the RROD only happened on launch hardware, but i was wrong. RROD WRONG.

That's awful. I hope the next Xbox has backwards compatibility. If not, we may be seeing Xbox 360 titles doomed to oblivion as the hardware fails. It would be awful to see that Treasure shooter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unnamed_Treasure_Shooter) get lost... if it ever gets released that is.

I wonder if some 360s are better than others and we might see a situation where all the faulty ones die off leaving a few reliable models. Or is the design just fundamentally faulty, and all 360s are living on borrowed time?
We are prepared to live in the plain and die in the plain!
