How many wish the DS had more ports?

Handhelds are a generation behind from consoles.

The GBA had ports you enjoyed BC it was a portable SNES of sorts. The DS doesn't have as many games you enjoy BC it's a portable 64 of ports.

BC of this, handhelds were a bit behind the 3D craze. When the DS came out, everyone was impressed with it's horse power & asking for 3D portable Nintendo titles, not asking for ports of 2D games or even new 2D games.

Underneath your comments, you're complaining more about the cycle of 2D/3D gaming & how this then hit the handheld market.

I don't really agre with thi at all. Launch titles maybe, but the DS quickly became a predominantly 2d machine.

It's almost unfair that the GBA got all the ports, as the DS is a much better machine, and can be played on that huge screen the 3DS XL has.

Look, I'm in my early 30s. I have to work, I don't have a lot of time to sit down and forget my life to get into all these new games. I love platformers. I love PS1 games, for the most part. Not big on RPGs, simply because they can suck your life away, which is fine for a kid, but adults really can't play multiple RPGs and have a life. It doesn't work.


That's it. I just wish there were more games that were like those. You either know it from your childhood all ready, or it has the same story since 1985, like New Super Mario Bros.

The only other ones I found that may be worth picking up were Myst and Mortal Kombat, obviously I played those as a youngster.

But I'm me, and I want to play what I like. I can't control or care about what anyone else wants to buy. That's of no interest to me. The GBA games CAN be played on DS, sure. But the DS was more advanced and has obvious advantages to a GBA. Such as a XL screen, that I can still buy new.

Look, I could care less what's coming out next week. I'm old school. I WILL spend my hard earned money on a classic game I love that's getting a new treatment. I'm not going to buy the new Pokemon, I don't care how much Nintendo invested in it, it means nothing to me. But I have a good job, and dollars to spend. So cater to me.

Umm, I hate to break it to you but Final Fantasy III and IV are not ports. When I played FFIV on SNES or GBA, it didn't look like that. I played the old FF games because they "weren't 3D."

As for SMB 64, I don't care. I bought New Super Mario Bros for a reason...It plays from the side. It's not 3d. I want to run and jump from the side, like Mario was originally. Because I'm 31, and I had an NES in 1988.

I'm not going to mince words with you. I like what I like and I'm not the only one. I have money to spend and I'm not going to buy the garbage that comes out every week that is forced down my throat and proclaimed as "it's new and you need to have it, because it's new."
