Then there are share the road (sharrows) marked out on some streets! This does not make any sense, inviting the biker or a flock of bikes to go right down the middle of the lane blocking car traffic. Sadly after a few bikers get maimed or killed this dumb idea will probably get abolished. The fix? Paint the entire shared road green! What a hazmat waste on the environment and taxpayer money.

As mentioned, the US has crappy Mass Transit. Is there anywhere besides New York City with its subways and huge fleet of yellow cabs? Now Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore; love the transit system. Literally only have to wait under ten minutes (lot of times under five) for the next train to arrive. Many stations are only a few blocks walking distance to whatever destination.
In San Diego we have the return of the "red car" trolley system a few of decades ago; a mixed blessing. The tracks are above ground which kills the automotive traffic at the train crossing. I hate having to wait for the trolley barrier while passengers are loading!! The trolley is required by law to blast its horns at every crossing, even though the barrier is gonging its bells. If I had a house near the tracks I would have sold long before the first barrier was installed. At one Trolley stop in East county, there is a dedicated red light for the train to wait its turn for cars to go thru the intersection!
Right now the transit sytem in the US is still in "transit". Pretty much have to drive and park or get dropped off to jump on the commuter train, which is a waste to many of the public. The train has a better impact in a congested city such as Hong Kong or New York and if a subway system.
