I have a college degree, a great job, have 2 kids and still get a decent amount back for taxes (I think I got 7K last year). So, your brother makes $20k and gets a healthy tax return; I would rather have my great job and have the money throughout the year to buy my toys rather than have to wait for taxes to come around.jvalentine98 wrote:Well the United States rewards you for being poor with a bunch of kids. Think about it, you have more babies:
You get more food stamps
You get more on your income tax to spend on Ipads, PS3, etc.
Trust me that's what many, many people do with it. Don't put it beyond materialistic poor people to get knocked up on purpose, get those government benefits, and spend the money and welfare on themselves. It happens every day.
My brother has 3 kids (two are twins, so his wife only got pregnant twice...she's fixed now, thank goodness), and this year he got back $11,000 in taxes to spend as he wishes. My grandparents paid off his house, his cars are paid for, family makes sure the kids have everything they need...he literally got $11,000 to play with. And that's exactly what it went towards. For a guy making $20k a year, my brother drives a paid for 2009 Escalade, has two 50 inch smart HD tvs and a huge collection of video games. All thanks to those babies and Uncle Sam.
Also, yes, you do get more taxes back if you make a low income and have more dependents. But all they are doing is stimulating the economy by giving folks without money, cash to have fun with. They aren't going to put it in savings because that is the one time each year where they get to keep up with the Jones'. They are going to come to me to get a custom computer built, or they will go out and buy nice clothes then hire my wife to do the family portraits that they can't normally afford, or go to my buddy's retro game shop and buy that Saturn or those other games they normally wouldn't be able to afford. They would do all of these things that their income level doesn't allow them to do on a normal basis.
I think both a University and Trade School are viable options for careers as long as you get a job doing something you like.
