read The Madden Phenomenon last week. A nice hardcover retrospective celebrating 20 years of Madden, which was bundled with the strategy guide in some editions. Had some nice pics and interviews and stuff, though not really as in-depth as I had hoped considering some of the excellent and similar documentaries that have been released w/ various Madden LE's.



Went to the beach today and started reading Ready Player One (finally - I've been meaning to for a couple years now...). Knocked down two chapters, and it's really good so far.

Just finished Logan's Run over the weekend. It's a dystopian novel from the late 60's, set in a universe where everyone is killed at age 21 in order to conserve resources. Naturally, when the man hunting the "runners", the ones who try to escape, turns 21, he... doesn't want to die.

It's a fun read, only about 140 pages. Lots of action, lots of fun techno-stuff. He also talks about new super-techno-LSD-from-the-future, which is a hoot. I wonder where he got his inspiration for this story...

My girlfriend is absolutely obsessed with that book and even more so the movie. It's quite cheesy at the end of the day, but great none the less.

As for myself, I've finally got around to 'Salem's Lot by Stephen King. This is building off reading the entire Dark Tower series last year, and it's been a fantastic read so far. After that I have Gerald's Game lined up, which I found in an op-shop for a couple of dollars. Honestly I don't have much idea what that's about, but that's part of the fun

Ages ago scored a bunch of digital graphic novels and eBooks in a few bundles, and one of them was called "Evil Diva: Volume 1" and I sped through it in a short while.

Also some time ago revisited the first Hack/Slash Omnibus and am currently rereading Volume 2.

One of my favorite reads in the past few years. Lots of cool little easter eggs and nostalgia pangs throughout.

Currently reading Ready Player One. I picked it up ages ago (I think before I left for Florida), but started reading it around December on and off, but haven't picked it up in a while.

Heard there's a film adaptation in the works.

I read Ready Player One last year after seeing it on Happy Console Gamer. I had never heard of it before. I liked it a lot.

My only qualm with the book is

maybe how everything gets handled in the end. It's not as cleverly handled, overall, as the setup. And there's some aspects that don't get dealt with by the characters that kinda bothered me.

But overall, I really liked it. I'm totally pumped for a movie. Though, I have no idea how they'll do it all in one go and make it as compelling. I get the impression it might be more like Scott Pilgrim vs The World, while I liked the movie ... it was entirely too condensed, giving almost no time to soak it in.

I like Zak Pen, so I'm not bummed about him doing the script.

Any opinions on the books in the new Humble Sci-Fi eBook Bundle? I'm debating whether to purchase it or to just assume that it's a bunch of stuff I'll never really read.

I haven't read any of those. Some are on my "find" list, though. I can't, personally, stand e-books, though.

Maybe if I had an illuminated e-ink eReader that'd be different.

Currently, I'm still in the middle of book series'. I took a hiatus from Parker, though I need to pick that up again, I'd say I'm about half way through. It's still prior to his comeback.

I've been procrastinating the latest Dexter book as well.
