Re: 2014 Club Nintendo Gold/Platinum Rewards
If it was like, choose from these digital Wii U games (that are $60 games), it wouldn't be as disappointing. But the main thing that's fun about these annual gifts is they're unique and won't be available outside of that situation. To this point, that's held mostly true.
The reality is, if you buy Nintendo stuff new every year, and you get the maximum coin values which is, the game, ten coins for buying within the first month (or saying you'll buy it), and the post play ... that requires about $450.
So, getting a $10 gift because you spent $450 is shitty.
It's the reason why, I don't buy anything to fulfill club Nintendo quotas, I only buy the games I want and would be buying anyway.
But it's hard not to be disappointed with a cheap, non exclusive, non special gift. Especially when, thus far, Club Nintendo has been pretty good about platinum gifts.

Re: 2014 Club Nintendo Gold/Platinum Rewards
If anyone with Platinum status was going to get a Gold game, I'll swap 'em for my Gold.
I am a bit disappointed with this year's crop of rewards, but I wasn't going to get anything great with my status anyway. It feels wrong to feel bad about free stuff though. Looking a gift game in the code.

Picked up DKCR for 3DS, my other choices would of been Earthbound or NES Remix, but i went with DKCR because it doesnt have waggle and an extra world.
I feel Earthbound has outlived its glory and isnt that great anymore too be perfectly honest...
As for NES Remix, i felt it didnt have as much content as a DKCR.

You're leaving out the value of the items you get with the actual coins you accrue.Cronozilla wrote:

With 600 coins you can get roughly $20-$25 worth of stuff from the store ... if it's stocked. So, that's still only $35 worth of stuff. Also, that's up to the individual user, and isn't a status gift.

I've been really busy with life and things. Plus my interests have shifted from retro game collecting to competitive arcade gaming, which a lot of you aren't really as interested in. That community is just so toxic, though. Like, christ. You can't go two weeks without someone else doing stupid shit. But you guys are cool. I like y'all. I should come 'round here more often if I get time.

Re: 2014 Club Nintendo Gold/Platinum Rewards
I agree that the disappointment that people are experience really should be focused on the, "I could get these rewards normally." For me, I am not personally disappointed, but I could see that a lot of people would be upset if they had purchased all the interesting rewards previously and have earned nothing. I can assure you that the majority of people didn't have the posters or the official soundtrack from last year when it was offered.Cronozilla wrote:If it was like, choose from these digital Wii U games (that are $60 games), it wouldn't be as disappointing. Re: 2014 Club Nintendo Gold/Platinum Rewards
OH MY!
I forgot about the rewards. I guess its that time of year eh?
I looks like this year, they are giving incentives for wii U owners. I dont have a wii U, so I guess I'll have to take a 3ds game.
You do know there is a way to cheat the system and get some easier points.
Right now at my walmart they have Professor layton and the unwound future for $7.00. Maybe your local retailer has clearance games? There's lots of copies of CrossworDS and Picross and Nintendo cooking that may be available for a few bucks and the club ninendo points are still good.
From what I can tell, points on games are the same no matter what you paid for a game. Every year, stores make older games clearance. Some first party nintendo stuff goes clearance as well.
In the past month or so Toys R' Us has had good clearance sales. I picked up some games. And they have points in them. I haven't put them into my club nintendo yet. Because once you reach the cap, there's no point in adding more. But now that the year is up. I have about six or seven games that I will add. Now I may go back and get a few more wii games from Toys' r Us. There's a copy of Endless ocean still at my local store. I do think the points still work on it. Doesn't hurt to try.
Those six or seven games I've gotten clearance. I've found them at a lower cost. And took advantage of it. So I dont have to spend hundreds just to reach platinum status. Just buy a few games that I like, and try to find random First party nintendo games clearance.
I havent even started on finding empty Nintendo cases with the codes still in them. I got a nice lot a few months ago and almost all of them, the codes were still valid! Find them in fleamarkets, yard sales and dumpsters(LOL!) Or ask your little nephew/cousin if they can give you their points.
Mom wont let them use the internet without permission. Take advantage and steal their points!
Cheat a little on those points and you can at least get to gold status.
