The rewards from the previous years have set the expectation that whatever Nintendo offers their nintendo club participants, it will be a one-off/limited/special/physical something-er-other.

Its not dumb to think those who have participated in the program in the past would expect the tradition to continue and are disappointed when it turns out to just be a download code for a game that anyone from the general public can purchase. They could have at least offered a game or two that had yet to be released to everyone else but they didn't even go that far. It was just lazy and cheap on their part.

I used to complete my surveys regularly to get coins through Club Nintendo. In doing so, I got both fof the Game & Watch collections for the Nintendo DS and various other prizes. I felt bad that I have not been submitting surveys recently, but in light of this year's rewards, I am glad that I didn't waste my time.

So I hit Platinum last night when I finally setup a Club Nintendo Account and registered my Wiiu and Wiiu games. Are these for last years Platinum winners or can I just go get NES Remix now?

Honestly, I would not have setup a Club Nintendo account unless it made me to get Mario Kart 8's free title.

Those count towards this next period's Platinum rewards (which runs until 6/30/2015). The cut-off for the digital rewards out now was the end of June.

They were probably better off just not giving anything and cancelling the service. I see it as a nice little extra or bonus. I buy the games I want, not to get some cheap rewards. I say you are doing it wrong if you are shelling out an extra $40+ on games you may not really want just to get some little trinket.
I always see it as the ticket games at an arcade. You spend money to get tickets and get prizes not nearly worth the cost to get the tickets. BUT, in this case, you actually get something for plunking down the money - in this instance the game, and what you can get with your tickets may not be anything super special, but at least it is an added bonus to the previously purchased games.

I am thinking of either getting Earthbound or Dr. Luigi. Earthbound is what I want since I have never played the game, but Dr. Luigi is something my wife is salivating for. Decisions decisions!

I guess this is true since club Nintendo Gold/Plat members are entitled to a free reward per the terms of the club. And yes, I am angry that it isn't what I expected. I'm still not sure why that's unreasonable.

Because you are angry and complaining about a freebie.
Nintendo is better served getting rid of the program.

But enough of it from me. We keep repeating same thing. You guys can go on being angry I suppose.

I'm complaining that the "freebie" which I did some minimal work to earn (putting in codes, filling out their marketing surveys, spending before the deadline, etc.) isn't what I had been led to expect it would be (physical and limited). That's not an unreasonable complaint.

Can anyone tell me what were the best gifts that Nintendo put out for us here in the states? All I got was cards last year.
