I thought you might say that. I will wait and hear from Bone before making my final decision, however.dsheinem wrote:not a good pickprfsnl_gmr wrote:Since I don't think I will get to it this summer, I am thinking about replacing Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1/PSP) with Faxanadu (NES). I am out of town next week, but I plan on starting it as soon as I get back on Saturday, June 21. I will send you a PM - or just post in this thread - as soon as I get started on it.dsheinem wrote:when are you gonna play wario land?
Faxanadu is a really, really good game. Much better than its immediate relative (Xanadu).prfsnl_gmr wrote:Since I don't think I will get to it this summer, I am thinking about replacing Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1/PSP) with Faxanadu (NES). Comments? Questions? Thoughts?
Is Legacy of the Wizard more of a classic? I am just itching for an NES game right now, and I think that the likelihood of me playing Final Fantasy Tactics this summer is pretty low. I have narrowed my choices to: Clash at Demonhead, Faxanadu, Guardian Legend, and Legacy of the Wizard. Which one do you think would fit best with the spirit of the Summer Gaming Challenge?BoneSnapDeez wrote:Faxanadu is a really, really good game. It's most certainly a "classic" to action-RPG and Falcom fanatics, but is relatively obscure to most folks.
I say play it if you wanna play it.
(you know it's part of the same series as Legacy of the Wizard, right?)

Yeesh, none of those is really a reasonable contender as a classic, just because it is old and/or good. The best bet might be Guardian Legend, but surely there are other NES games you haven't played that would fit better. Have you beat R.C. Pro-AM? Played the original FF or all the early DW games? Perhaps something from here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_be ... stem_games?prfsnl_gmr wrote:Is Legacy of the Wizard more of a classic? I'm personally calling bollocks on RC Pro-Am being any more influential or classic than Faxanadu.dsheinem wrote: Yeesh, none of those is really a reasonable contender as a classic, just because it is old and/or good. The only classic DW game I don't have under my belt is Dragon Warrior II, and I am not exactly chomping at the bit to get through that one. I have also beaten every NTSC game on that list that can be beaten with the exception of 1942, Tiger Heli, and Xevious. R-Type Delta is more than enough of a shmup for me this summer; so, I am not excited about any of those games either.dsheinem wrote:[Yeesh, none of those is really a reasonable contender as a classic, just because it is old and/or good. Legacy of the Wizard is one of the core Dragon Slayer titles while Faxanadu is a spin-off (you can think of Faxanadu as being the equivalent to something like Final Fantasy X-2). So one could argue that LotW is more of a "classic".prfsnl_gmr wrote:Is Legacy of the Wizard more of a classic?
