Do you somehow think that the ending not being what it was originally intended to be supports your argument that it is not debatable that the ending was horrible?

I suspect the original ending was the one they added in the ending expansion DLC. You know, the one where the galaxy is destroyed.
I'd like to see an epic series that ends with you failing to save the day.

I haven't yet played the Witcher games (I can skip 1, right?), but DA 1&2 are indeed better than ME 1-3.
The first Witcher focuses a lot on how Geralt is alive and missing his memory (as at the end of the book series he gets killed), and that plot thread is going to be picked up big time in Witcher 3. So I would not recommend skipping it.

Have you watched the summary video? If so, is watching that enough? I skipped 1, as I had trouble getting into the combat, but I loved 2 and I am eagerly anticipating 3.

Spoilers for The Witcher obviously. Released by CDProjekt for just this reason we're discussing. A lot of information here divulged very quickly, might take watching it a few times to let it all sink in.
