I don't see why they wouldn't re-release the GC controllers (or the equivalent of it) after going to the trouble of creating this peripheral.

It's possible the adapter might just be released as a limited edition item for Smash Bros. to get people more interested in the game and the system.

That would be very nice. I probably can get a used Wii U for a cheap price, and save a lot on the NGC games that I feel like they are over-priced in second hand market and cost me personally a lot in shipping.

@isiolia

Why do fighting tournaments use only wire controllers?

This. Same with PCs. We PC master race members laugh at people playing FPS games with a wireless mouse

So what are three decent games(not including mk8 i will purchase that soon) I can get at gamestop that aren't fps's or sports games? I think I'm going to use my b2g1 to start my wii u collection when I get the system soon. Has to be a games I can get pre-owned though...

For a lot of them, participants can (and often do) bring their own controller. So, practically speaking, the controllers hooked up to a particular console may need to get swapped in/out every few matches. Simply plugging in or unplugging a controller to accomplish that keeps things simple, and ensures you don't have people's matches getting messed up because someone's controller was still paired/etc.
Evo does have an exception for Madcatz's wireless pads that are tied to a specific USB dongle, rather than paired with a console.

High level players would likely prefer wired anyway for reduced latency/etc.

Yeah to mimic everyone's response, there is latency with wireless controllers that may seem unnoticeable to most people, but when you play fighting games that rely heavily on knowing how many frames of animation a move takes, it can make all the difference.

Here are some of my recommendations of great games for Wii U:
LEGO City Undercover
Super Mario 3D World
Rayman Legends
Donkey Kong Country Returns: Tropical Freeze
Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate
Pikmin 3
Wonderful 101

If I had to pick 3, and they had to be exclusives, I'd pick Donkey Kong Country Returns: Tropical Freeze, LEGO City Undercover and Super Mario 3D World.
