The goal is to simply get from the start (the highest point in the ocean) to the finish (the lowest point), evolving your creature along the way. To fully evolve your creature you need to gather all the foodstuffs on each section of the ocean - some are just floating about, but others require you to deal with enemies before you can obtain them. Once you've evolved one creature, you unlock another - in total there are 6 creatures in the main game, and one new one in the expansion pack. The multiplayer adds a new dimension to the gameplay, now you and the other players are essentially competing for the limited supply of foodstuffs, attempting to become the most evolved by the end of the level.

...and does this really involve moving the sixaxis in all six axises? I often end up with the controller upside down!

That shouldn't be happening really - you shouldn't be rotating the controller at all, just gently tilting it either left, right, up or down. Also, you can do a 180 degree turn by sharply tilting the controller in the opposite direction to the direction you are travelling in.

The game is meant to be very relaxing, I usually play it slumped on the couch and it takes barely any movement at all to progress - just try being gentle with it, the game doesn't register any sort of rotation movement, just tilting.

hmmm, this does sound quite different from my experiences with the game... I normally end up throwing the controller across the room

The philosophy of thatgamecompany, who made fl0w, is that they make games for people to relax to, rather than get stressed at. The gorgeous (THX certified!) soundtrack, coupled with striking minimalist design and the complete lack of punishment for doing badly makes this the game I pick up and play whenever I need to unwind.
I totally don't get this game... what are you supposed to do? I thought my controller was bust for a while, but maybe not...?
It *gasp* uses the sixaxis! Not trying to be a jerk but I find it funny how its almost a completely forgotten feature now.

Love this machine (mostly for bluray) some good games though to (shmups, wipeout hd) I liked time crisis 4 and Gran turismo 5 and ferrari challenge. The resistance games are good, I still need to get them. Valkyria based on the demo I tried is a good rpg

I'll second Pixeljunk Eden. It's a gem of game. Kind of an old-school sensibility, in that it's 2D and the gameplay is based on collecting and unlocking. But it's totally modern in in form and style.

The BC:R remake is also very cool.

I have LittleBigPlanet, and I like it. I don't love it the way some people are gushing about it, but I also haven't delved much into the level editor. It has a lot of charm and style, and it keeps me coming back to play, so I know it's a good game in that regard. I think I just maybe expected too much out of it. But if you're a 2D retro fan it's absolutely worth a look.

Haven't played flOw but I'm very much looking forward to Flower.
