Well, usually the goal is to just beat the game. When the competition is suddenly about points, things change a little.

For instance, characters that I ordinarily would not use become much, much more interesting. Evil Ryu, for instance, becomes more desirable than Ken thanks to his Akuma-esque final attack simply because it can more reliably get the full 10 hits for the finish. When the goal gets altered, the entire dynamic shifts.

I, for one, am really enjoying this Dreamclub entry.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Yeah, I love the idea. This makes me want to play fighters more than anything else has, oddly.

My DC has no cables atm though, so I am not Dreamclub-worthy.

What kind of cables do you need? I have more pairs of AV cables than I have Dreamcasts. You pay shipping, I can send you a set gratis.

I guess i'm not at your guys level yet. I can't take the risk of throwing a round yet for the extra points. My goal is 1mil / 1cc, i'd be more than happy with either.

I agree - as a competitive person, I don't need to win or even be top 5 to enjoy this - I just crave that push to make me better and have something tangible to shoot for.

samesies. I don't like the risk. Too many curveball round 2's where I beef it to my own surprise.

Samesies again. I think it's a fair bet that I won't surpass Donnie*, but I like pushing myself for myself. I had set the 1M goal, and felt like a champ when I made it happen. Now I'm aiming for the 1CC and having just as much fun pushing myself for that. Plus, if I happen to get better at the game or beat my current high score in the process, then even better!

*I'm pretty sure I can out-score Flake in this one
granted he never posts a score.

For some reason the game was much harder today. I got to match 8, but struggled at every step and barely broke 700k. Also, couldn't pull off moves to save my butt.

If you turn off Mode Select in options, what's the default mode for Arcade? I had it off, apparently, so I wasn't selecting a mode. I turned it on and chose Normal and the game seemed a little harder. Not to mention that before all 3 punch buttons selected the default player color, but now I get different colors for each one.

I confused now.

I was owning w/Zangief - was at 700K after 4 rounds, feeling awesome, then just got destroyed by Sakura. Like, destroyed.
