Yep, we're at 29 degrees now and snowing heavy. Supposed to get 6-8" over the next 48 hours, snow at night, rain during day. We're 2" from the seasonal record, so as you can imagine, everyone is pretty excited :|

Dude, it's almost May, what the heck?

Smile: Going home (from Ronald McDonald) this week.

Frown: It's not because Moira's numbers have gone up, they just haven't gone down. This waiting is killing me! :( Just so much uncertainty about whether we have to do more to help things along or what.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

How not to tell your Boss you are bored at work (everything following is nonsense and fictional)

Dude: Have you ever looked at a frog sitting on a lily pad?

Boss: Um. Yeah. Wait. What?

Dude: Have you ever looked at a fucking frog sitting on a fucking lily pad?

Boss: Who hasn't?

Dude: Not the point. Have you looked at the frog, sitting atop a lily pad?

Boss: Your point?

Dude: Sitting on his ass, eyes wide open, waiting for something to happen. Wanting something to happen. No guidance, nor no direction. A frog, sitting on it's ass, hoping someday something will happen. It's pathetic, it's sad, it's Mother Nature fucking up her directional duties.

It's an absolute anthropomorphic visual of a dude in a cubicle waiting for customers to fly into his aping mouth. Sit, wait, good boy.

How do you manage a frog on a lily pad? You don't. You "pay it mind" but offer no direction.

I;m not complaining, at all, but in my eyes my employees ARE my job. Everyone has their own management style, but if an employee asks me "What can I do?" I feel like a failure. Employees need stuff to do as long as they are on the clock.

Call people "Honeypie" and have a funny name on your nametag.

Lord knows I wouldn't shop at food lion if it weren't for "Aunt Fanny" who calls me "Sugar lumps".

Yeah but it would be nice if the schedule said cashier that, that would mean I will absolutely be cashier. I need the practice so I can get around to memorizing something other than bananas(4011) and grapes(which I think is 4022 for green and 4023 for red). I need as much practice as possible right about now on that XD

It will become second nature, trust me. I worked at a Lenny's through college and I was worried I would always have to look at the board for the ingredients. Its been over 2 years since I left and I can still tell you what goes on which sandwich  If you see something that needs to be done, do it. I did that and was Assistant Manager in a month. Not great or anything, but I passed up like 10 people for the position because I knew how to do everything in the restaurant.

This man speaks the truth, if you put in more than is required or expected you'll eventually be rewarded if your boss is any good. I too worked in a restaurant and I went from washing dishes as my first job ever to being in charge of the kitchen and everyone in it anytime the owner wasn't inside in two or three months. It was kind of interesting being 18 and telling a 40 year old woman to do this or that for me. That does take work though; I've worked plenty of time off the clock to make sure everything was good to go before I left for the day.

^I've never worked at a grocery store, but for some reason I've memorized sku's of produce over the years.

It always provides a laugh when a cashier asks "What the...what is this?" and you provide them with the sku.
