Re: Sega Saturn Mod Chip
Hi, I've been following the site for quite a few years, but this is my first time on the forum. Anyway, semi-awkward introductions aside, I've been having trouble finding an answer to a certain problem. Please forgive an entry level technical idiocy, it's just part of the slightly less than technologically capable existence of a Humanities graduate.
When burning CDRs and using the Sega region patcher, is this not necessary if you have a Saturn with a region switch? Ie, if I was backing up my copies of Burning Rangers and Panzer Dragoon (PAL) on my PAL Saturn, I'd obviously make sure the region was PAL. If I was backing up Policenauts, It would again obvs be set to JPN region. The main guide implied that it was essential to check the region on Saturn games and files before burning. Would this be only an issue if you had a modchip for CDRs but no region switch, or if you had a region switch, the region the Saturn images were set to wouldn't matter? You couldn't say patch Policenauts to a PAL region and then (w. modchip), play it on a PAL Saturn?
Any guidance or stern warnings about crossing into hazardous legal territory would be amazing!
