I went on, and played chess against some idiot, who was shit, but I was awarded checkmate for a situation which was merely a check, as he could have moved his king to two other spaces!?! very weird! I feel cheated, I could have really nailed his balls to the wall

Ok, so after seeing a similar situation to the one in which I was awarded checkmate as detailed above in the newspaper - it would appear that PSN home awards checkmate where 'mate in one move' is achieved, which is weird, as if my opponent had taken any of the two moves he was allowed, there can have been no guarantee that the move I would take would be the checkmate move...

Home is the most boring and pointless piece of shit I have ever played.

I feel sorry for all those fanboys who were spoonfed the horse shit that Home will be the saviour of the PS3.

What does the PS3 have going for it now? Valkyria Chronicles? The sequel to Uncharted?

I think I am going to wet myself with anticipation here.

You have to remmember that Home as we know it now was very cut down from the original vision for Home from when Phil Harrison was heading up the project - there was alot shown about media sharing, you'd be able to meet up in a buddies Home appartment and watch videos from his HDD on his Home appartments TV, or use a boom-box to stream your music on your HDD to your friends, plus the ability to share files between users. Couple that with the simple social networking side of it, promised deep avatar customization, promised fully functioning game party set up & promised game specific areas we have yet to see, and you can see why some people were initially very excited by Home. Saviour of the PS3 it was never going to be, but fanboys will hype things up, just like other fanboys will jump on them when their hype doesn't come to fruition.

Demon's Souls, Fat Princess, God of War III, Gran Turismo 5, Heavy Rain, Infamous, Killzone 2, MAG, Quantum Theory, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted 2, White Knight Chronicles, Yakuza III, whatever the hell Team ICO are working on - take your pick.

I'm still waiting on the trophy rooms that were mentioned way back in the day... Poking around was a fun diversion though, even if it is kind of sparse right now. Pretty good for a completely free add-on.

Red Bull Air Race is decent, a bit like a demo, as it only seems to be one track, and I can't yet find the leaderboard, but decent nonetheless

My friend and me were messing around with home on his PS3 last night. First, everything requires an update.... Snore... Just like nearly every game on PS3. Ok, so we want to check out the Air Races. Finally download it, head over there.

There are tons of people standing and running around. How the fuck do you race? There isn't any obvious way. Lots of people are asking the same thing. My friend runs around randomly hitting X. Finally, in a random spot X turns into 'Red Bull Air Race'. OK, STOP! Push X now!

He gets in the race. Oh my this is bad... Like a cross between Superman 64 and the original Pilotwings (obviously worse than PW though).

Home is still in beta, fair enough. But right now its almost a complete waste of time. It got us thinking, Sony is literally years behind MS in terms of online. MS doesn't have a virtual world, but Xbox Live is polished and *useful*. Most Sony online games have almost no-one playing!

That really isn't true, I play both Call of Duty 4 & World at War regularly and they are very well populated - I don't play Warhawk much, but when I do theres always at least 20+ games being played. Burnout Paradise has a very good online community on the PS3 and it's very easy to get a full game going, same goes for Battlefield: Bad Company & Motorstorm 2.

World at war is usually packed into the wee hours of the morning, same with motorstorm 2, only with angry 12 year olds

but back on Home. ive been on a little more than usual, mainly just for random chit chat with other people, other than that i dont see anything to do still, red bull game is fun and EA's new sports lobby looks promising
