that album is an insane mess. I love 808's And Heartbreak, so I'm glad he put it out then. But man oh man, the actual "story telling" aspect haha.
That's a good convo though - live hip hop albums. There's not a ton of good ones I can think of. (Actual albums, not video releases).
Jay-Z's MTV Unplugged w/ The Roots is prob my favorite. Came out right after Blueprint, so pulls heavily from my favorite era of Jay's work. And then has a good run of older classics in there, too.
The Roots Come Alive is... pretty good. I mean, it's really good really, except that I've actually seen The Roots live and that album just doesn't capture them as well as it should.
umm... Ghostface Killah's Live In NYC is pretty solid. Good set list.
I guess the same could be said for Kool Keith's Ultra-Octo-Doom.
I've got BDP's live album on its way to me actually. Did PE have a 90's live album, or was that only released on video? I know De La put out that live at Tramp's album, but I don't remember ever hearing it.
