This isn't the Retron, IIRC, the Retron 5 is basically just a consolized emulator, but this Analog NT is "true to the original hardware" and has "no emulation." Also, RGB video output. So see RGB vs composite video.

Ultra Sexy new NES coming

If you are a real Nintendo gamer, one would just get a NES from each region.
Most on here do have one. If they are like me, they just want to eliminate some clutter
Re: Ultra Sexy new NES coming
I'm fascinated by the native famicom support built in. On first glance, I thought that was an SNES port. I think this might be the first of these 3rd part NES clones to feature that. On the whole, I'm really impressed.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I couldn't find anything but Analogue has a reputation of being a "What you pay is what you get" company - their stuff is never cheap but you'll also never see a cross word or bad review about their products.
...and in this case, I'm really okay with the price being a little high. The NES repro scene is over-saturated with budget products made with crap materials. It'd be nice to have an option built to last.

Re: Ultra Sexy new NES coming
Not that I'm advocating one over the other, but guys, don't forget that Retro Zone is coming out with the HDMI NES. I haven't actively investigated the details of either, but the HDMI NES will have... HDMI output. 420p to be precise (you really don't want it higher than that). It'll also have Scoreboard, which is an online high score leader board. I remember seeing the prototype with 4 controller inputs and both NES and FC cart slots. The new version of the PowerPak is suppose to have Scoreboard built into it.
What I'm getting at is, don't jump on one or the other just yet. I'd wait for both to come out before making a decision of which one to get.

I will be buying the Retron 5 (I have a very specific purpose for it), and either the Analog NT or the RetroUSB. The Analog NT will be prettier but like yall have all said, they deliver a premium product.

420p output on an NES game? Okay, explain that to me? Because I don't get how that's possible without some type of software running alongside the game to clean up the output. Wouldn't that make the visuals way too blocky?

Re: Ultra Sexy new NES coming
Actually, sorry...
480p!
First off, your 1080p TV is gonna upscale anything you plug into it to 1080p anyway. The difference is that scalers built into TVs are usually low quality. Using some external upscaler gives you the chance to have better scaling quality. Furthermore, the NES outputs 240p which some HDTVs wont handle. Having the HDMI NES output 480p will make it compatible with (hopefully) all HDTVs. And like I said, hopefully it'll scale to 480p with decent quality. Your TV will still scale it up the rest of the way but A) It wont have to scale it as much so it shouldn't look as bad and B) Like I said some TVs wont handle the 240 resolution.
I've seen some screenshots from the prototype consoles, the picture looks pretty clear.
Yes, the HDMI NES will have some hardware/software to handle the scaling. But again, hopefully at a decent quality. I have no tech details about the console though.

Here is a direct feed from RetroUSB's HDMI NES playing Akumajou Densetsu, aka Castlevania 3, off of a Powerpak:
