It quickly went from in stock, to 1-2 day wait, to a wait, to Amazon not having it listed from them (for $49.99).

I caved and ordered it, and their initial "should arrive on the 15th" turned into it shipping yesterday and being out for delivery today.

In the meantime, it has reappeared on Konami's web store. Technically, Target also lists it online for that price, but out of stock last I saw.
Now Amazon doesnt have it listed anymore again, must of been a short reprint or Konami had some backup stock they found.
It's back in stock at Amazon again  .

Not really a game, this is a visual novel and to my knowledge has no gameplay elements at all. There is a limited edition also available which includes items such as a hair comb, hair pin, and charm. Likely to be a collector's item in the future, this seems to be more of a release for anime fans instead of gamers.
The series is also one of very few otome games (visual novels targeting a female audience) released outside of Japan. I can't imagine that there'll be a huge print run for it, considering it's a subniche of an already uncommon genre here.
Interesting. I personally won't be picking this one up either, and I buy a lot of random stuff.

Some decent looking WRPGs coming at us:

The Dark Eye: Demonicon
Bound by Flame

I prefer the PC for this genre, but my old rig won't run either.

Demonicon is related to the Realms of Arkania series. Very cool.

More WRPG madness!!!

Looks like we're getting a Sacred 3 fairly soon. I haven't gotten to parts 1 or 2 yet!

Very surprised that the Drakkengard 3 CE is selling for so much - I guess a print run of 5000 will do that. Anyone get in on that?

I placed my order a while ago. I'm a sucker for extra goodies. I'll let you know if it was worth it in a month when/if it shows up

(Hopefully Digital River won't piss me off as I've heard they have a reputation to do.)

Digital River is horrible. Ordered the Xbox 360 version of the Lightning Returns CE when I wanted the PS3 version. I realized it right away, so I cancelled like ten minutes after I placed the order. They proceeded to tell me that it was too late and was already shipping. I must assume they have the Flash running their shipping dept. Their advice to me was to refuse delivery. How do you refuse delivery when they leave it on your porch when you are not home?

Regardless, I will never order from them again, I don't care what they are selling! Truthfully, I have resolved to never buy Square games again when they are new. I will buy them used so my money does not directly benefit them. It is a shame they let this terrible company distribute for them. I wish you the best of luck with them.

I preordered it a while back.

I haven't had a problem with Digital River for preordering. Yet.

Only time I've dealt with Digital River was for my Ni No Kuni Wizard's Edition. My package didn't arrive for like 2 weeks after the game's release.

Yeah Digital River has to be awarded the worst online distribution company ever... A quick google search will reveal a ton of horror stories from people who've unfortunately dealt with them.

I used them for the Ni No Kuni CE, and it was a total disaster. I ordered the first day it was announced. Since at the time they were only selling within the US I had to use a deputy service to ship it to me in Canada. A few months later they announced shipping to Canada, so I emailed Digital River asking if I could switch my shipping address on my initial order to my Canadian address to avoid the deputy fees. They emailed me back saying it isn't possible to switch shipping addresses (what? how is your system not set up for such a basic thing? especially since the game wasn't due to release for a month or two yet...) and that I would have to cancel my order and re-order another one. To my surprise, without even confirming if that's what I wanted to do, they cancelled my order. Wtf? Okay fine, it's not a huge deal as long as i'm able to place my new order. I went to place a new order, filled in my correct shipping address, submit and?... Sold Out!

I emailed them back demanding they uncancel my initial order but they refused saying it couldn't be done and after about 20 emails back and forth, I was SoL. Worst experience I ever had. Luckily I was able to re-order months later during that whole "back-door link" debacle they had.

I swore to myself I would never order from them again, but alas, the Drakengard CE is something I really want and it's the only means to get it. I am just crossing my fingers it all works out this time. I'm literally just going to avoid emailing them about any updates regarding my CE to avoid them cancelling it without my permission haha. I now live in fear thinking if I email them just to say hello they will reply that they've cancelled my order, haha.

I've no idea why companies use DR to distribute for them, Capcom, Namco, Square, and I believe a few more all use them. There are so many better companies out there like TreeHouse who i've had nothing but pleasure dealing with.
