I just arrived at the Al Bhed "Home" in FFX: HD. I've been leveling everyone equally (subbing everyone in to at least guard, so they get the experience) and playing a ton of blitzball. Super excited to have an absurdly OP team with all the ultimate weapons and such :D

Final Fantasy

Got the rat's tail and had my classes upgraded.

Money-grinding now for the best level 7/8 spells.

I was an idiot and accidentally bought two cat claws (one of the most expensive weapons in the game) even though I needed just one. I would have reset, but I hadn't saved in over an hour. Then I had to buy that fairy for 40,000 gil...

Thanks popo. Makes sense considering some of the pairs kids come after them.

I have three paralouges on the map now. Goal is to beat them & chapter 16 tonight.

Should mention Im right @ 20 hours in.

This is one of the major differences between jRPG's and wRPG's for me.

JRPG
NPC: Hey I've got something you need to progress, gimme all your money.
Player: Yeah, ok. Just give me a minute to sell some loot.

WRPG
NPC: Hey I've got something you need to progress, gimme all your money.
Player: I have a counter proposal. Give me the item or I kill you and everyone you know. Just kidding, I'm gonna kill you anyway.

Final Fantasy is done, part II will be started soon enough.

Playing Crusader of Centy now though...... I just checked a walkthrough, I'm about 1/3 of the way finished with the game. In some ice fortress right now. Kinda surprised and disappointed about how dull it is. Feels like a slog right now.

Have you played through these before? II is the only FF I've played and haven't been able to finish... The leveling system was too weird for me :/ it's pretty cool though, because there's, y'know, a story and stuff...

Yes I've played it on Famicom and PSX.

I don't mind it. The leveling system is easy to exploit if you know a few tricks.

It's infinitely better than some other games in the series, like X-2 and XIII.

I'm moseying through the FF games... Sometime after part II I'll play the DS versions of part III. Both games are already in my DS Phat just waiting for me to play them.

I actually like FFII quite a bit. (I played the GBA version.) It is very different from the other games in the series, and I though that trying to exploit the strange levelling system made combat more interesting.

Also, you really need to play FFIII, Bone. It is very solid.

Ahh man, I love FFX-2! Never tried XIII though. Maybe I'll give II another shot someday.

The way I see it FFII has the same amount of grinding as any other old RPG... You just have to grind "strategically."

And yeah, I have beaten the Famicom version of FFIII. Still need to try it on DS. I heard it's just as hard as the original.
