Yo Exes,

I own, yet have never played, Ghost Recon : Advanced Warfighter and Rainbow Six : Vegas.

Any order I should play them in, or if continuity isn't an issue, which one would you recommend I play first?

Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six are separate entities within the Tom Clancy universe, so you can do either one of them. I picked up AW1 & 2 for the PC recently, but I got so many other FPS to play before them. I would give Vegas a try for sure.

Looking at a few copies of DKC2 that are under $20 on eBay, shipping included. Given how much you enjoyed the first, you owe it to yourself to buy and play this fantastic sequel.

1. Battle Bakraid (Normal Course 1CC)
2. LaserReimu (Mild 1CC)
3. Stealth Bastard Deluxe (plus The Teleporter Chambers)
4. Trilby: The Art of Stealth
5. Rogue Legacy
6. 2048
7. Vanguard Princess (Story Mode 1CC)
8. Diehard Dungeon
9. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
10. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Diehard Dungeon: Fairly standard roguelike/roguelite (whichever term you prefer) dungeon crawler that's a bit like Binding of Isaac, though the enemies are more generic than BoI. Gameplay is decent, though. Beat it by taking the easiest path each time, so there's still probably a lot more stuff to see by choosing the hard route.

MGS:PO: Didn't really get the most out of this, as the analog nub on my PSP was acting up and drifting right a lot, so I was forced to play it on easy. Snake running around in circles while trying to sneak does not make for effective stealth techniques. :) On the whole, most of the story seemed to be a bit thin, until the last twenty minutes or so, where they crammed in as much exposition as possible. Boss battles weren't all that exciting either. I think I preferred Metal Gear Ac!d on the PSP. I hear Peacewalker was a big improvement on Portable Ops, though I should probably sort out that analog stick first...

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories: Good concept, though some aspects of it could have been refined a bit. The fact that you can only die in the frozen 'other' world sections makes the 'normal' parts a lot less tense than they should be, plus there was no variety in the actual monsters.

The story part was good, though. Nice twist at the end too. Plus, there's plenty of incentive to play through it again, so the designers clearly did something right. Not the greatest looking game, though. The shadow and lighting effects in particular looked really bad. Maybe that was just the PSP version...

It also seemed like they didn't have too many ideas of what to do with the other world sections. A couple of them had some basic puzzles (like taking photos in certain locations or the gumball colour puzzle) but when they had to increase the difficulty they just went with that confusing maze part near the end. While I only died on that part once, there was a lot of aimless running around in circles until I figured out it by trial and error.

Games Beaten 2014:
1. Diablo II / Lord of Destruction
2. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sonss
3. Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix
4. Diablo III: Reaper of Souls *NEW*
Games Beaten 2013
1. Bioshock Infinite [PC]
2. Demon's Crest [SNES]
3. Sacred Citadel [PC]
4. Dishonored [PC]
5. Bastion [PC]
6. Torchlight 2 [PC]
7. TMNT: Turtles in Time [SNES]
8. Mark of the Ninja [PC]
9. Mega Man X [SNES]
10. Mega Man X2 [SNES]
11. Diablo [PC]
I'd been waiting anxiously for Reaper of Souls since it was first announced, and after my recent playthroughs of all the Diablo games to date, I was glad when the final product delivered on all the things the devs had initially promised. Loot 2.0 is a godsend. Increased Legendary drop rates and getting items (mostly) relevant to your class is a huge shift towards more rewarding gameplay and loot grinding. Act V, its story, areas, and monsters were all a refreshing change of pace from the main game, which I'd grown a little tired of after putting in over 150 hours with them. The new Crusader class is also a blast, and I'm excited to get mine to max level. And last but not least, the Mystic. Being able to change the look of my gear, while a small addition to some, makes the entire expansion for me. I get so much satisfaction out of getting my characters to look perfectly badass  Overall, I'm really satisfied with the expansion and will definitely be playing it for the foreseeable future.

3/19: Star Fox 64 3D (3DS)
3/23: Megaman 6 (NES)
4/9: Project Justice: Rival Schools 2 (DC)

Hey, my first non-Nintendo platform game of the year! Noiseredux recently gave me crap about straying from the Dreamcast so I dedicate this addition to my playlist to him. Yay Noise!

Okay, so Project Justice is a great game. It has gorgeous graphics (use VGA, people) and solid gameplay. I played through the storyline with the Sega Saturn model 2 controller through an adapter and it felt very natural.

Here's the thing though: I think that the original Rival Schools may have been a better game. Project Justice's extra characters are kind of 'meh' and the overall character balance is practically non-existent. There are some characters that shoot to the top of the list (Vatsu and Hyo, come to mind) and others that you take just to make the game harder. Some of my favorites like Shoma and Kyoko are entirely nerfed.

The storyline is also weak compared to the original Rival Schools. The original had this really cool theme of "Our School vs Your School" and everything ran to it. Even the game's stages reflected this as each school had their own levels and theme songs. In Project Justice, the game strays from this. The characters all seem to know each other well enough to be friends and the superbuddies tone of their dialogue outshines any distinctions their different schools should give to their interactions or alliances. Even many of the story mode teams see you choosing students and faculty from a variety of schools. I know this might be a weird thing to complain about but without adherence to that theme, Project Justice feels less like the unique experience that Rival Schools was and more like the Street Fighter spin-off that both games really are.

But I want to stress that although I think Project Justice is not as good as the original Rival Schools, that's like saying that Street Fighter 3 is not as good as Street Fighter Alpha 3. It's still an amazingly good game and an example of what I think we all wish Capcom could be again. It's memorable, fun, has a lot of replay value and really does rate the price it still commands on eBay.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I think if we're talking vanilla SF3, there's an argument to be made. But if we're talking 3rd Strike, then GTFO. While Alpha 3 is a brilliant game, no doubt, 3rd Strike is perfection.
