Only one quote from this entire article pops up in a google search, and in every link I clicked, it was all pointing back to this article. Seems fake, much like the accusations your making.

I wasn't sure how to respond. I couldn't tell if he thought it should have been higher or lower.dunpeal2064 wrote:I wonder how much Hucast had to pay to get a 5TheRev wrote: 2. It's their review of Redux that got me suspicious. They gave the game a 5 for Absolutely no reason.

if anything they were really fair to Redux. They pointed out it looks much better via VGA (it does). I mean, look around at forums and blogs that focus on indie DC games or shmups in general, and you won't see such kind words targeted at that game.

You must've looked really hard to notice that Fez got a higher score than Battlefield 4. Or that an overwhelming majority of small/indie games got a better review than Call Of Duty: Ghosts.TheRev wrote: Well I noticed an inconsistency in Destructoids reivews. EVERY small studio game gets 5 or less. But huge AAA games get an 8 or higher. The smaller the studio the lower the game review is.
When Mike bought his copy they must've spent the profits on getting that up to a 6.5.dunpeal2064 wrote: I wonder how much Hucast had to pay to get a 5

Yeah. I am afraid that an unverified quotation that appears in only one location simply does not cut it. That isn't to say that gaming journalists are not unduly influenced by certain developers - it is nearly impossible to prove a negative proposition - but I do not see any hard evidence of it.SpoonyBard wrote:Only one quote from this entire article pops up in a google search, and in every link I clicked, it was all pointing back to this article. (I must also point out that, for the amounts discussed in the articlen - $10, $20, $40, etc. - I am pretty certain that even indie developers could bribe their games to glowing reviews.
At the end of the day, if you think that a reviewer is unfairly influenced by a developer, then you should take that into account when you read his or her reviews. Finally - I think that certain video game enthusiasts are unnecessarily concerned with review scores (as if the game with the highest scores "wins" in some way). IMO, they should take a deep breath, enjoy the games they enjoy, and realize that not everyone is going to share their opinion.
I think you are going to be sorely, sorely disappointed as to what PIs can actually accomplish.TheRev wrote:Sheep FIne I'll hire a PI and when proves me right you all owe me a Saturn Game...and they won't be cheap ones.

Why would we believe you? I proved your "point" (of nothing but assumptions) wrong and provided sources. The first source you provided said you were wrong, and the second source you provided didn't make any point for you and also seemed to be fake.TheRev wrote:Sheep FIne I'll hire a PI and when proves me right you all owe me a Saturn Game...and they won't be cheap ones.
Hire a PI. Please. Just don't make me read his blog.
Re: Want a good review? Bribe me!
Couldn't pay me to read/watch one of rev's "reviews" in the first place. Garbage, just like most "reviews".
Funny to see him lash out though.

Re: Want a good review? Bribe me!
I don't need to hire a PI. Johnathan Holmes and I just got done talking on twitter. From what he and another reviewer told me is everyone is in business for themsleves over there. The PC Review editor told me he isn't paid at all for his reviews but he couldn't speak for others.
When I mentioned the argument I had with the over all reviews editor Holmes siad he couldn't blame me for being as suspcious as I was.
SO there you go. MAYBE or maybe not. But if anyone is taking bribes it's under the table it's not the site taking the payment.
@reverendjohnw if you want to see the convo.
