I know why they did the redesign and it is one that I do not approve of either. Watch the trailer and see them use their shells to take out a jeep. They are larger so that they can create more visual damage in fight scenes. It is from the Transformer's school of thought. The bigger the fighter, the bigger the destruction, so let's amp the turtles up to 10 or 12 feet tall and we are good to go.MrPopo wrote:I do not approve of the design of the turtles.Luke wrote:TMNT Trailer
I'm confused, but whatever.
I am not happy about this, not because of the, "They are ruining my childhood," as the cartoon TMNT is very different from the original comic TMNT.
What bothers me is that they are going in strange directions with the plot. April O'neil's dad working with the Shredder to make the Turtles? Ummm....okay?
I always feel like there needs to be a line in reboots that you should walk on. On one side is what the original idea of the turtles was meant to be and on the other is what you want to make it.
You should be walking that line, by keeping the core traditional ideas intact, while taking liberties where you can to do something different.
Will this new movie do that? I don't know. I do not find Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to be a show or comic that really highlighted grand scale destruction. Maybe there won't be and they highlight what little there is in the trailer...who knows, but my optimism is lacking.
