I'm confused, but whatever.
I do not approve of the design of the turtles.
I know why they did the redesign and it is one that I do not approve of either. Watch the trailer and see them use their shells to take out a jeep. They are larger so that they can create more visual damage in fight scenes. It is from the Transformer's school of thought. The bigger the fighter, the bigger the destruction, so let's amp the turtles up to 10 or 12 feet tall and we are good to go.

I am not happy about this, not because of the, "They are ruining my childhood," as the cartoon TMNT is very different from the original comic TMNT.

What bothers me is that they are going in strange directions with the plot. April O'neil's dad working with the Shredder to make the Turtles? Ummm....okay?

I always feel like there needs to be a line in reboots that you should walk on. On one side is what the original idea of the turtles was meant to be and on the other is what you want to make it.

You should be walking that line, by keeping the core traditional ideas intact, while taking liberties where you can to do something different.

Will this new movie do that? I don't know. I do not find Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to be a show or comic that really highlighted grand scale destruction. Maybe there won't be and they highlight what little there is in the trailer...who knows, but my optimism is lacking.

Michael Bay has raped enough of my childhood for one lifetime and his movies do jack shit for me. I'm not gonna watch this abomination, not simply because he made baffling and nonsensical changes to an already proven-to-work formula for the TMNT story across all generations of children...no. I'm simply not watching this because his work sucks.

period.

the thing is this... it's another TMNT movie. So it really doesn't even matter if I like it or not, I'm thrilled that it exists as something I can see and then form an opinion on.

I can't argue that train of thought.

A lot of people will also jump to the conclusion about the visuals in the fight scenes as it is produced by Michael Bay.....but not directed. This directer, Jonathan Liebesman, had directed Battle Los Angeles, a movie that I found to be somewhat enjoyable in a mindless self-indulgent matter. It's action sequences aka the whole film, where not a complete clusterfuck and you could see what is going on.

I will probably go and see it on a tuesday morning and spend $5 to see it and make a decision about it. I, like Noise, love TMNT with a passion and want to at least form an opinion on it based on visual experiences.

I'm the guy who watched all of the Twilight series so I could honestly tell you that it sucks, so there is that.

Am I wary, 100%. I fear this will be terrible and almost assured that it will, but I am going to give it an honest chance. If it ends up being good, I will admit it.

The only Bay flick I saw in theatre was The Island, which was okay for what it was.

A remake of Parts: The Clonus Horror (without the MST3K treatment)?

I don't think it would have taken watching all of them. Though I've seen the first one several times, owing to that the Rifftrax of it is pretty great.

Ditto.

My movie pals call me a push-over for saying so, but it is the truth. If it's horrible, I'll walk out. Simple as that.

Gunshots in less than 10 seconds, explosions in less than 15? Yeah, sounds like Michael Bay. The best thing that man ever did was Pearl Harbor, and that was solely because of how great the song "Pearl Harbor Sucks" is.

You do know Bay didn't direct it, right? His production company was involved.

Not that it doesn't change the fact he was involved with the script...

I'm sure people at newsarma, aicn, and other fanboy sites are going nuts, and I'm not thrilled about GIANT ninja turtles, but I'll at least give it a shot.

And Ack, if you haven't read Ebert's review of PEARL HARBOR, put down what ou are doing and google it.
