Also prfsnl_gmr I see you live in charlotte, do you hit any local places for games? Only one I can think of that might be worth it to me is Save Point but I'm not sure how good of a deal I can get from them....(and I'm almost certain they don't carry NES at our goodwills unless their people don't mistake for trash)
Any decent NES hidden gems?
Re: Any decent NES hidden gems?
@prfsnl_gmr gotta admit I already have that flintstones game...amazing game(would be better if it had saves and would help if Crazy Castle and Birthday Blowout did too...highly underrated but missing a essential feature even though crazy castle makes up in having passwords
). So far i need about 27 more games(ones I've checked out on youtube or have played newer versions of). Of course that will probably expand to close to 50 or more if I keep going through and checking all these lists(though my buying probably won't happen if I get this summer opportunity with my work to go work in the outer banks...).

In Charlotte, most games are transitioned to the Computer Works store:darsparx wrote:Also prfsnl_gmr I see you live in charlotte, do you hit any local places for games? It is my first and last stop every time I travel through Charlotte - which now that I think about it has not happened in five years, maybe I need to change that.
Re: Any decent NES hidden gems?
Yeah i've heard about them, but the one review on their fb page made me a little wary if they really are that snobby...but ehh it could be different for me but I don't know...

Re: Any decent NES hidden gems?
Ive been a couple dozen times, and never had an issue. The only time they got snobby with me is when I asked about something on a shelf behind the counter. They couldnt sell it to me, but I asked just because I was curious.
I have bought countless loose games and consoles, but the highest profile things I have bought from them were a mint TI99A in the box, a sealed copy of Adventures of Link, and a sealed copy of King of Kings (one of the three NES Bible games), and a Sega Sports Dreamcast. All of those were way under market value, except the Adventures of Link, but I had a friend who asked for that specifically - it was $200

Let me know if you are coming through; I would be delighted to meet up. A word of warning, however, the Goodwill Computer Works store is relocating in a few weeks. It will be further away from my office (fastbilly1 wrote:It is my first and last stop every time I travel through Charlotte - which now that I think about it has not happened in five years, maybe I need to change that.
Also...it is a great store. The prices are consistently below market - it uses videogamepricecharts.com to price its games (and complete games are priced like loose copies!) - and I have built my collection there.
Save Point Video Games is another great video gaming store in Charlotte, and although it tends to focus on more "mainstream" systems (i.e., you aren't going to find a TI99 there), it also has great prices and a great selection. (It is also run by a regular over at nintendoage.)

Re: Any decent NES hidden gems?
The epitome of "NES hidden gem" is this game:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gimmick!
Mr. Gimmick is simply one of the best NES games ever made, exuding technical prowess and overall polish few other NES titles ever matched. And it has quite possibly the best OST of any NES game.
Watch some video of Mr. Gimmick:

Might want to change that link though, it only goes to the wiki page on what a gimmick is XDExhuminator wrote:The epitome of "NES hidden gem" is this game:
