I played it and thought it was as generic, by-the-numbers, franchise cash-in as you could get. I wasn't impressed at all. And I play a lot of comic book based games.prfsnl_gmr wrote:I just started up Justice League Heroes: The Flash (GBA). It is very, very fun, and it plays like a good version of Data East's Captain America and the Avengers (ARC) crossed with Konami's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (ARC). Moreover, it was developed by WayForward; so, the sprite work is excellent. It can be quite challenging at times, and although I haven't played through it yet, I highly recommend it to any one who is a fan of this genre.

Weapons games work better in 3D because weapons have a much longer reach than punches and kicks. It's not like the controls in hack-n-slash games are way better. With weapons, less accuracy is required.noiseredux wrote:I'm inclined to agree...Ack wrote:Actually, spinning off this topic, I've always felt beat 'em ups and hack n slash were intimately related, but hack n slash seems to work better in 3D than beat 'em ups. Why do you all think that is?
This is especially true of 3D third person games, but Hotline Miami is a good example of this difference. Try playing without lock-on. Even with the lethal fists powerup, wouldn't you rather have a weapon?
There's also the problem of dealing with attacks from many opponents and multiple directions. How is a fistfighting simulator - however exaggerated - supposed to do that? 3D beat-em-ups were doomed from the beginning.

Not me! Thought it was worth mentioning though.
I played the PS Vita version and aiming guns with the tiny analog stick was a pain, so I used mainly knives and baseball bats.

Have you tried God Hand? It does this very well imo.Valkyrie-Favor wrote: There's also the problem of dealing with attacks from many opponents and multiple directions. How is a fistfighting simulator - however exaggerated - supposed to do that? 3D beat-em-ups were doomed from the beginning.
