The pipes in this house used to freeze, but then we had spray foam insulation put in. Problem solved. Shit wasn't cheap though.

I'm DIY to a point, a point which I've now passed for this particular headache.

Reinsulating the house is on the table, as is moving

I'm going to throw this out there since we're talking home repairs:

To all of you who read this and currently reside in an apartment, please take the following advice.

Be super courteous to the maintenance crew. Offer them something to drink, ask how they're doing, and so on. Learn from them. Ask them "So what exactly are you going to do to fix the faucet/toilet/crack in tub/dish washer/garbage disposal/cracked tile/you get the picture.

Youtube videos are a good reference, but maintenance guys & gals have to troubleshoot all the time and it's not always the easiest answer that is a permanent solution.

If and when you buy a house, you can count on those guys to help out with your home.

 I was backing out at school, and my back tire hit a puddle and spun out real bad, whipping the front fender into a pole and knocking out the lens that goes over the turn signal. The damage isn't all that bad, but then again it isn't all that little. The fender is also pushed over the hood enough that it can't open right now. I duct taped it up so I can drive it until I figure out what to do, so I'll be riding like a thug for a bit.

And Hobie, don't say it.

:) No homework... I guess that's about the best thing today.

:D Finally got a pair of jeans today. Since getting to all my jeans in storage is insanely difficult, I've decided to try my hand at finding some jeans at the nearby thrift store, and today was their BOGO day where clothes are buy one (article of clothing), get the second one (here the "second one" is the one that's of equal or lesser value than the first) free. I could only find one pair of jeans and it's pretty snug but not enough to where I run the risk of ripping them, but I managed to find a Green Goblin t-shirt (apparently from Old Navy, unless the logo on the inside of the shirt denotes who made the shirt itself). Those two things (with the BOGO the shirt was free) and a used paperback copy of "Was" only cost the better part of $4.

:) Went out tonight for dinner. Went to Logan's Steakhouse and I got the Chicken Tenders with fries and Mac n Cheese (it was part of their deal where you get two meals for $14, and each meal is an entree and two sides).

:) Get paid tomorrow, though of the $209 and change, $100 of it goes towards my share of the general financials (room rent, groceries, et al).

 Went into 7-Eleven this morning to get a Big Gulp and, without realizing it until a few minutes after getting back to the motel room, forgot to pay for it. I freaked out over it, but then went back, told the person at the counter what happened. She noticed it, thanked me for my honesty and then put a $1 bill into the jar for one of those causes that help to end hunger (can't remember which one).

Mix of copper and PVC. The PVC ones are shit, from what the plumber yesterday told me. I guess I'm lucky I haven't had issues with them before.[/url]
I work with PVC every day and it is really tough material.. It's easy to glue while wet, but make sure you get rated "for pressure" pipes if you go that route.
