The difficulty in these games doesn't come from how fast you can mash the buttons but from dodging the attack patterns, memorizing the stage layouts and enemy placements. It's actually pretty easy to max out the fire rate in Blazing Star with an arcade stick and the two-finger button tap, it's just tiring to maintain it, especially after a few runs. What can I say, I like to play the lazy way. :oops:

Anyways, enough arguing from me, I'm going to play a few runs now. It's time to get bonus!

Raiden would be a partial-exception, without autofire I feel like my hand is going to burst by stage 7.

I would say that both are part of the difficulty and that some shmups punish your hand and others don't. Blazing Star is a relatively easier shmup by most counts in terms of memorization, so having to maintain rates of fire and tap with the right timing for 20-30 minutes is part of the challenge.

Broke my first million.

I see no option what so ever for auto fire on my MVS cart, no matter what region I put my BIOS in, and nothing if I change it from Arcade to Home cart in unibios. If there were an option, service menu or otherwise, to enable it, I have no problem with auto. Otherwise I think it's kind of cheap to use something like the shmupmame option (i.e. in shmupmame you can get auto piercing for mars matrix which is a HUGE advantage).

Anyway, if people want to use auto, go for it I guess (not my call anyway) but if someone can clear up the statement that the MVS has the option for it I'd appreciate it. I'm sure as hell not finding it.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

Autofire is NOT in the MVS options for this game. Nobody was using it to begin with, so I don't even know why it was asked or brought up. It just started a 2 page fire.

Welcome to the thread Coloradog. Good score for a start there!

MVS motherboards will have different options depending on what region and updated bios it has. I'm using an MVS cart that has an auto option, though i'm not using it.

It wouldn't be the cart that has options, as is the case w/any neo game, it is the bios menu installed in the cab or cmvs motherboard.

and EDIT (1224p): ...and i'm wrong. Mine doesn't have auto either. I misread it. It has full charge / full combo / full power. Those are of course cheats for what we are doing.

@Joe - where is auto?
