1. Get a Wii U.
2. Pass 100 games in my PS1 collection, and pass 100 games in my PS2 collection. I'm very close on both, and they will be the first consoles I have gotten over 100 games on!
3. Finish off my GameCube wishlist. All I need are: F-Zero GX, Soul Calibur II, Tales of Symphonia, & WWE WrestleMania XIX! (Along with a few multiplats that I'd be just as happy with on Xbox or PS2 anyways.)
4. Get a working Sega CD or 3DO. I just want a piece of that early CD-Rom era back in my collection. I used to have a Sega CD, but it stopped reading discs. So I'd prefer to get a 3DO just to experience some new titles. I'd like a Turbo-CD attachment more than either of those, but I really don't see that one happening.
5. Get more TurboGrafx-16 games. I only have 3 at the moment (Alien Crush, Keith Courage, and Splatterhouse). I used to have a bit more the first time around I had a TG-16 (before my cat broke it, no joke).
6. Try out more modern first-person and third-person shooters. To tell the truth, I got overwhelmed by it all by the time I was done with the Doom series, the Hexen/Heretic series, after that the Quake series, then Unreal, and finally the Halo series. So I completely skipped a large number of these on Xbox 360. I have that trigger finger again and I feel the time is ripe to jump back in, especially since any time now Xbox 360 games will be on clearance racks everywhere!

Re: Your retro-gaming goals and resolutions for 2014
I can't think of any game collecting goals this year.
It feels great to finally say that for one of these threads.
I own way too much sh*t quality games as is.
After focusing so much on Xenoblade and SMT IV lately, I'd really like to play through some of the older RPG's in my collection for 2014.
Sword of Vermilion, Breath of Fire II, Wild Arms 1/3, Defenders of Oasis, the .hack series, Lunar (PSP), my Disgaea games, and Grandia II (DC) currently come to mind.
I doubt I'll manage to beat even half of them by the year's end, but it never hurts to dream. <3

Re: Your retro-gaming goals and resolutions for 2014
This, although for me it's the 3DS that I want to focus on. Got a 3DSXL for Xmas and if I can pick up one or two games each month, should be able to amass a large chunk of the top titles by the end of 2014. I rarely touch consoles any more.dsheinem wrote:finally give up retrogaming, sell collection, focus on PS4 and XBone

I was assuming that Dave was just joking around, but with all the members agreeing with him I'm not so sure...

1. Build up my collection for the following systems: Gamecube, N64, Saturn, DS, PSP.
2. Beat 2 numbered Final Fantasy games this year.
3. Beat at least 5 of the 8 games on last years games unbeaten list.
4. Get all consoles on my backloggery down to 3 or less unbeaten games.
5. Participate in more than half of this years Together Retro games, and beat at least 50% of those I play.
6. Limit buying to roughly 3 games per month - not including cheap digital deals or together retro games. Preferably 1 modern game, 1 more pricy retro game and 1 other game of my choice. The goal here being to try and pick up some of the slightly pricier games I've been wanting whilst also cutting down my backlog a little.

Re: Your retro-gaming goals and resolutions for 2014
Well, I have up physical games, when possible, last year. Gave up my TV. Gave up all retro systems except the Dreamcast. Unless we want to call the PS3 and 360 retro already.
Not much else to give up retro gaming wise. If there are any retro games I want to play I will buy them on Steam, PSN, or XBL. Or wherever they may be available on newer platforms. If that isn't possible then emulation it is. But more than likely I will just be focusing on more recent releases.

1- Prestige a couple times on Ghosts.
2- Maybe get a PS4
3-Pick up some...
I don't really have retro gaming goals. I've gotten every retro game I've felt I absolutely 'needed' for my collection.
If I had to make a couple of goals they would be:
-get new shelving so games don't have to be stored away
-trim the remaining titles I won't play again from my game library
2- Maybe get a PS4
3-Pick up some...

1. Get Astro City monitor fixed
2. Continue toward finishing off NES collection
3. Complete a chunk of GOG library (I own a 7th of their offerings and have beaten maybe a 5th of what I have).
4. Keep up with games beaten
