If you can find one for $50 it's considered a great deal.
Is it worth it?

It depends.

I have a pair and I love 'em. They really bump gamecube games in a way akin to the improvement you see with Dreamcast VGA cables. They are also the only way to play Gameboy Advance games, IMO.

That said...for the price of Gamecube component cables, you can almost buy an early model Wii. Add in $10 more for Wii component cables and you're playing both Wii and Cube games in a better resolution.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Well, I clean up the ports and it still didn't help. I guess I'll have to wait until Wednesday when the cable arrives.

If it still doesn't work, update the thead? This would be the first time I ever knew of such a break down.

You're welcome. The Gamecube is a guilty pleasure of mine and I'm always happy to help a fellow gamer get his/her 'cube on.

One more question. Would it just be better to go with a OEM cable or does it not make a difference?

In my experience don't bother with cheap s-video cables you see on eBay. Composite cables seem fine, but I went through 3 sets of no name svideo cables before I bought a set of pelican brand ones that worked fine.

@Flake

I ended up reluctantly buying one from a overpriced local shop and... it didn't help. I'm just going to return it and play on my bc Wii. I won't have to worry about memory cards and I'll buy one of those component cables you were talking about.

I believe you do need a Gamecube memory card to save Gamecube games (even if you're playing on a backwards-compatible wii).
