I found two cool things I thought I'd share...

Did any one get up to level Star-1 yet? Did you see the Zelda reference?
Just after the part where you ride Plessie (that big dinosaur type guy that belly surfs) there's a gate with two unlit torches. Just to the left of the gate is a hidden item box with a flower instead. Lite the torches and the gate opens to reveal a cloud cannon. It blasts you up to one of those platforms where you have to light up all the tiles, then the camera pans out and shows that it's a giant 8-bit sprite (there was a Mario one earlier in the game). This one is an 8-bit Link, and once you lite up the whole board it starts playing Zelda music. How fitting that you have to light the torches to get to this area, which is a common Zelda puzzle.
Another thing I've found is a sort of hidden exit...
In level 1-2, there's an area that you need cat Mario to access. There's a red pipe, when you enter it you exit the level (with no flag pole) and travel all the way to the start of World 2. What's weird is if you collect a stamp or any green stars, you keep them, but the level will still show a Bowser flag. So I don't know if it counts toward any file completion percentage, or if finding all the secret warps is needed to get all the stars on your save file, but since there's one of them I figure there must be more of them. I know there wasn't any hidden/alt flag poles in 3D Land, and IIRC there weren't any world warps either.

Please keep that Japanese sales stuff out of here. It's already been hashed and rehashed on other forums why it shouldn't be concerning.

It seems only the people who desperately want Nintendo to fail are the ones drumming this tune. At least wait until the North American sales are revealed before gloating.

Yes, it wasn't until I completed that bonus area that I realized it was Link when the music played.

I still can't get all three stars on that stage. I died 14 times, and I got tired on redoing that bonus area.

Yeah, I kept dying too. I had to redo that Zelda thing about 3 times I think.

I love Nintendo, I have had a Wii U since launch and I want to console to push ahead. I also have the game preordered (it comes out on the 30th in Aus).

By your logic lets not discuss the game at all, other forums are talking about it. I like the community and I like to hear their views on the situation. Don't tell me / us what to discuss on these boards.

This game never ends.
I finished star world, only to be taken to mushroom world.

There's a LOT of levels in Mushroom World! And it doesn't look like there's much more room on the world map. I'm wondering if there's gonna be a Flower World after this, or if Mushroom World is the end.
I'm loving this game, but I wanna talk about some of the things that I don't like. Don't get me wrong, I'm just nit picking here.

One...
There's a fifth hidden playable character. But it's... Rosalina? Yeah, she's a HUGE part of the Mario series, I bet every one is dying to play as her. I can kinda understand having 3 male characters and only 1 female character, so having another female balances it a little. But, c'mon, they missed a good opportunity here. If you told me there was a fifth hidden character I would have guess something like Yoshi or Wario. Personally, I would have liked to see something a little different. I think a bad guy character would have been cool. Since this game has lots of (USA) SMB2 things in it, maybe Shy Guy or Snifit or a boss like Birdo or Mouser. Or maybe Bower Jr. I would have enjoyed any of those much better than Rosalina.
I got sidetracked and forgot the other things I was gonna say.

Oh well, I'll remember them eventually.

I picked it up this morning at 8:30am, as it just came out today in Australia.

Just 100% the first world and loving it to bits, unlike 3d Land where I did not notice the gold poles at the end until like, it is nice to be 100%ing (properly at least) as I go along.

For people playing, what controller are you using? I am using the Pro Controller, I find it so annoying how you can't disable the 'ghosting' of the TV when you are playing on the gamepad.

EDIT: Annoying how you have to use the gamepad for those toad stages, for no real reason either, I don't use the tilt feature when controlling the camera, the only thing its used was the 'blow into mic' feature, which surely could have been done with A for people who are using classic / other controllers.

Which is exactly why I've just been using the gamepad, for those toad stages. I like using the Pro Controller, but found it annoying to switch, so I just use the gamepad all the time now. Even though there aren't THAT many toad stages.

Speaking of the toad stages... something that would be cool is some DLC. Maybe more toad and special stages. That would be nice.

I know the game is really built for multiplayer anyway, but it would have been nice to have seen some extra gameplay modes like NSMBU had. Not that I'm dissatisfied with the game at all. The "Luigi Bros" game is a nice addition, but I never cared for the Mario Bros arcade game all that much.

Is this spelling mistake AU (perhaps PAL) exclusive?
