probably no one played this game in my region, in fact I just learned of it recently ...
It was often available on school computers, being an educational game and all.
At least that's why it was popular when I was growing up.
right. My elementary school computer lab had Oregon Trail, Math Blaster, Number Blaster, and Print Shop Deluxe. Oregon Trail was always my choice.
But somehow Oregon Trail was popular enough with some of classmates that they had copies of it outside of school as well.
So they could practice to get the high score. I slowly am amassing a collection of hte games we had when I was in elementary. I still cant find the exact same copy of Oregon Trail or Dr Livingston I Persume, but I have most of the Munchers, Print Shop, and all of the Learning Company's games but Operation Neptune. My favorite of which is:
Good old Treasure Mountain
Sadly my Apple ][ is a + not an E so it cant play Oregon Trail anyway... I still need to find a IBM PS2 Model 25 for a decent price.
I'm going nuts trying to think of another game that I had a demo of. It was on CD. I'm going to guess it came out in 1992 (ish) as I got the demo the same time I got the Loom CD re-release which was also 92 I believe. I couldn't even tell you what the gameplay was in this game, all I can say is I remember the demo was animated cutscenes - and showed a futuristic submarine. I wanna say it was some kind of cyberpunk game that took place on a submarine. Maybe. This is so super vague, I know but just putting that out there.

For those of us old enough to remember, it was widely used throughout our school systems in the 80s at a time when the personal computer was still something of a novelty with a lot of promise. Oregon Trail was Edutainment that was supposed to create an excitement in students for computing while simultaneously teaching them about US history, which apparently involved a lot of death by dysentery.
It's the 1st game in the AquaNox series, as I understand. Came out in '96, but like you, I'm just throwing that out there in case it it's the one.
Otherwise, I'm just posting so I have the link to the DOS tribute. This would make a bad-ass poster.
Also, was there 2 different Oregon Trails, one that allowed you to hunt 1st person (stationary position of course), and the other from overhead?, or was that both in the same game?

DUDE! There is a really good chance that it IS Archimedean Dynasty based on some screenshots I just checked out on Moby Games. Wow.
I just checked out a vid of the intro on YT:
I'm pretty certain that this is in fact the game I was thinking of. I can't believe you were able to come up with that considering how vague my description was. Wow, thanks!

, it's fun to try and guess the un-guessable.
I wasn't even sure what you meant by "animated cutscenes" (could've been cartoony for all I new), but the cyberpunk clue made me think of the AquaNox games.
Even at 1996, some 17 years ago, who even remembers exactly what they were playing on PC (there's a vague timeline there that isn't present with console games)?
