Rushing Beat Shura (the Japanese version) was so much better. Heck, the original series was. Leave it to Jaleco, when it came to localization of any of their games, they were not experts.
Shame on you and Dunpeal -- I've 100%'d SMW 2 and I'm currently working on the GBA port doing the same thing. It's got even MORE levels if you can 100% everything.
You best get to Actraiser after this, you don't know what you're missing!
Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm a philistine for disliking SMW2. But the game just doesn't resonate with me and tends to leave me more frustrated than interested, even if it is a beautiful game.
I really wish Jaleco hadn't screwed up the Rushing Beat series. They have some issues with hit detection at times and a few cheap enemy designs, but they're amazing in their scale, particularly when you get to the final game in the trilogy. But the localizations are horrid, and Jaleco took something awesome and effectively just shit all over it. I've heard that the US office didn't even bother reading the Japanese storyline for the games and just started cutting and butchering.
And truth be told, Actraiser 2 left a bad taste in the mouth(that underwater boss which you can apparently only hit by dive attacking killed the game for me), but I'll go back to Actraiser after this.
